  • We have a decent Construct 3 Manual which is enough to educate us. The Remote Preview is quite straightforward. You preview from one computer to another device, let it be a PC, Mobile or a tablet.

  • There are many large games in Construct 3, so don't you worry. About your problem of black screen, can you try to preview and on the preview window, press F12. To launch the Developer Tools and go to the Console Tab and screenshot so we can identify the problem.

This is what it should look like.

  • Then you get a link and scanner bar code you can use to preview the project.

  • I haven't encountered that. Though, as long as the computers have internet connection you can do a Live Preview. I hope that solves that.

I typed a reply, but there is no point , so I deleted it.

Original post asked about limitations people may have encountered with version 3. Let's stick to that and hopefully give him some specific answers, not general meaningless ones.

I hope that is not the case, because if that is the problem the whole thing falls apart. What good is the editor if your final export has problems?

Well, your answer contributions are the real meaningless. Just assumptions, useless comments and questions.

That was the answer to your stupid question. But since you didn't understand, I'll make it blunt.

Of course, if you don't know how to pick an engine for a specific purpose in the first place, then it will of course fall apart when you export. That's a no-brainer.

The exporter problems which I answered means that, it depends on what export option you choose. If you make light-weight apps or web apps, use Construct 2 or Construct 3. If you are targeting high performance games or consoles. Use other game engines for that.

Back to you, yes HTML5 and the Exporter. Because, for example, XBox is advertised by Construct Team as Construct 2 or Construct 3 is capable to run ID@Xbox.

But in actuality, it is not recommended for ID@XBox, it should only be used for hobbyists at the moment, but not for professional games. Based on collected real life tests.

But that doesn't mean it still isn't good for other fields of development mentioned previously.

You can also ask on the biggest Construct Community on Discord that armaldio hosted. It has 1000+ members. We discuss there things that might be useful for information like these. And lots more.

  • Choosing an engine is straightforward. If you don't like it and the features don't match your needs from the available information provided, then move on. Don't bother changing it and find the most suitable for you and it saves you lots of time.

The focus is implementing your project and earning from it.

  • Other Engines have limitations and benefits of their own. Make that reverse and you have Unity, for example.

Unity specializes in Desktop Games, Intensive Mobile Games and Consoles but bad for Web Games, Mobile Web and Light Mobile Games.

  • I hope that is not the case, because if that is the problem the whole thing falls apart. What good is the editor if your final export has problems?

Construct 3 specializes in Web, Mobile Web. It is fair in Intensive Mobile and Desktop but bad in Consoles.

    That's the summary of it.

  • Remember, there are infinite benefits that are available somewhere else. And infinite limitations that are also available somewhere else.

  • Compared to Construct 2. Not really.

Most problems here are related to either HTML5, Exporter or other things that have nothing to do with the editor or the pricing.

  • No problem, you're welcome.

Here's the screenshot, by the way.

  • Check the Hide Status Bar on Android Export.

  • Best advice, go with native for this one. You don't want to be one of those who have to do native ports which cost thousands of dollars or revenue share just to get your "already developed game" not go to waste.

Even though advertised, Construct 2 or Construct 3 doesn't have the fair enough tools to handle ID@XBox games.

Construct 2 or Construct 3 is very competent for Web Games or Light Mobile Games, only fine for Intensive Mobile Games or Desktop Games and bad for Console Games.

This is because Construct 2 or Construct 3 uses HTML5 technology, it is best for lightweight apps or web apps.

edsonticjoy You can reconsider if you are making Web Games, Desktop Games or Mobile Games just not for Console. I'm sorry Ashley, I know other platforms can do fine with Construct, but you could have saved someone by saying No.
