  • Yeah, Alex can consume people to regenerate and gain new powers.

    Anyways, Prototype is AWESOME. Extreme Parkour combined with unholy amounts of destruction and gore, and... Also, yes, you can cut up enemies with helicopter blades. It makes you feel like an unstoppable killing machine, while still throwing challenges at you.

  • It's a nice concept, but did you HAVE to make it so unforgivingly hard?

  • Aria is still on-going, sure, there's been a roadblock or two, and some annoyances, but... More characters, and three new areas (none quite finished) to show off!

    IT'S SOMA CRUZ! And the area? It's sorta a mix of a couple of Wario Land 4 areas. I know the background looks like shit, I'm thinking of either changing it or doing it another way.

    It's Blaze the Cat, and... Well, I used Smithygod's edit/custom sprites, considering they were the best-looking and most practical ones for my purposes. Finding the right sprites for her was a pain in the ass.

    Also, both Sonic and Blaze will be able to "run" when they hit greater speeds. I haven't done that for Sonic YET, though.

    It's-a-me, Mario! Yes, the fat plumber is in. As for the area, it's a mix of the Underground Laboratory from Mega Man Zero 3, and Area N from Mega Man ZX.

    And finally, FROG! Frog is actually the only character that has all the sub-attacks finished, as seen below.

    As for the stage, it was meant to be the Guardia Castle Dungeon area (ya know, the jail-break portion after the trial?), but it came off as looking nothing like anything from Chrono Trigger. Eh, it's a dingy brown dungeon with some CT elements. It works. Most of it is hand drawn... By my mother. STOP LAUGHING.

    Uppercut slash! When I looked at those specific sprites, it looked like Frog was doing a "sword Shoryuken". Neat.

    Anyway, some actual freakn' info...

    • The character roster has hit 10 characters! Granted, not all of them complete, but still. I'm well on my way to breaking the multiple character record for a platformer - I have 20 in all planned. No, I'm serious.
    • The game now has an RPG stats and experience system, akin to Castlevania: Synphony of the Night. I intend to follow up with an inventory system as well. Stats are calculated by level, so the only stats that are "stored" are levels and experience.
    • I didn't show enemies for the new areas, because... Well, they're not finished yet. I have been working on bosses, though.
    • I may release a second trailer. And perhaps a second demo. No promises, though.
  • I love Construct, I really do, but... For some reason, it tends to, well, crash a lot these days (normally when opening a condition change window or the picture editor). I can't tell whether it's because I'm using a large cap or otherwise.

  • True, true. Shame I can't actually test the stuff I'm working on, though, except in external caps, thanks to the VRAM problem.

  • I know, but... Oh, forget. I just hope those problems are fixed soon. If only we could transfer stuff and their events between caps. That would help in cases like this and for collaborations.

  • Reported. In my mind, I won't accept 0.99 as "stable" until these problems that I'm getting are fixed. I might as well keep using 0.98.9.

    Not really. There's a nasty bug (granted, the tracker thing I submitted is private) that more or less prevents the VRAM controls from doing their job and defeating their purpose entirely. I'd wait until the next hotfix/build if I were you.

  • Unfortunately, the problem I have with the big cap still isn't fixed... I hope Dave fixes it. It would pose a nasty roadblock for large caps, and more or less prevent the new VRAM controls from doing their job right and defeating their purpose.

  • Of course, there WOULD be limits on the character creation thing, it's mostly just design, rather than art style, which will be handled by the artist, naturally.

    That sort of job thing sounds neat, too. Anyone opposed to my idea or thinks they have a better one?

  • Maybe so, but... Okay, here's an idea. We compile a list of ideas, and then make a poll for the community to decide. Sound good?

  • Yeah, yeah, I see your point. I went and deleted it. Perhaps some different ideas are in order. After all, that one was for a completely different sort of game. XD

    Alright, here's a different idea. A platformer-style fighter, with a metroidvania-style single-player mode (just one map, though). Each member of the team can design their own character for playable use, and perhaps more from the community. Sound fair?

    And the plot? "LOL LET'S BEAT THE SNOT OUT OF EACH OTHER AND EVERYTHING ELSE, K?"
