  • I like your button selection, too many people choose 'shift' as a primary key, which in windows turns on sticky keys.

I also like that your sprites have a fair amount of animation, especially for a first test game. The cow carcases as save points is also a nice touch.

If the object is to collect sheriff badges, perhaps have some way of keeping track of how many you've picked up/how many are left to collect in each level.

Perhaps some basic sound effects and a background tune...although sound doesn't always work the best in HTML5 games quite yet :)

Overall though, a solid first attempt.

  • How much time is left?

Deadline for entries is December 23rd 11:59pm GMT...so roughly 19 days.

  • Sounds like a plan!

  • When you do have the game in the arcade, feel free to make a post on this thread letting us know.

Edit: I can also put it on the list of entries for the secondary competition, even though it wouldn't be an official entry.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • There was 6 weeks for the primary competition, still 3 weeks left on it <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

The free-for-all was shorter because people could enter games they had been working on before the competition began. Just not games that were already complete before the start of the competition.

edit: If I do put on another competition, it will probably be a much larger one...also thinking of a two month development time frame. Nothing is set in stone yet however.

  • Entries are closed for the free-for-all (secondary) competition. Seeing as there was only one official entry,T-Droid Bounce, cademonteiro is declared the 1st place winner :P

    Here's hoping to a more competitive Primary competition <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • At the rate Construct 2, and HTML5 games in general are developing, I'm sure there will be some contests come summer.

  • A little over 48 hours from the time of this post for Free-for-all submissions, just a friendly reminder <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Anyone who is working on games that would like to submit them to the Fun Chowder Games Competition, free-for-all (secondary) category, there is a little over 48 hours from the time of this post to do so.

All entries can be made on this thres: Fun Chowder Competition

  • Looking forward to playing the finished product. And we are not even at the half way point in this competition yet.

  • Argh...I doubt I'll have anything worth entering by the time either contest ends, but I'm gonna try for the main one...I hope these contests become a recurring event; it's such a great way to get the community making awesome things.

If things go well, the plan is to have more competitions in the future. For the moment though it is wait and see. Feel free to enter this time around though, still got a little over three weeks left for the primary competition.

  • Hey Braxmule. Would you mind shedding a bit more light on the advertising campaign prize? I'm just a little confused. Fun Chowder is a start-up itself, so by what means will you help promote the winning games? Just curious!

As you said, we are a start-up ourselves so our advertising channels and business relationships at this stage are still very new, and somewhat limited. So at this stage, just think of us as a pasionate friend who will do what they can... Things like making promotional videos with licensed music.

The promotional package is purposely vague for many reasons though. It could be that developers simply want to advertise the games themselves, or maybe they would like an extra hand to help them spread the word to things like blogs.

And maybe if there is a game that we are really excited about, we could help cover some costs, such as contracting artists for aditional promotional material, or going through an established app marketing network that can help get your game(s) ratings from established game reviewers. Even costs such as translating the game into different languages to give the game a broader audience.

The world of HTML5 games is just starting out, and we are excited to grow along with it :)

  • What Tokinsom said :)

  • Dobandon Have only been able to replicate these bugs regularly in Mozilla Firefox, seems to work fine in chrome. Most of the incidences of falling through happened here: Floor1

Often times if jumping off I'd either go right through everything, or end up in the pipe below: Floor2

I really only encounter problems with the very last lift: Lift

Sometimes it works no problem, other times it doesn't let me go up unless I am pushing both up and right simultaneously. It could be because how narrow it is compared to the others.

    Hope this helps :)

  • Dobandon Considering we are only two weeks into the competition it is a very solid start. Encountered a few minor bugs e.g. Falling through floors, temporarily stuck in lifts. All in all it seems to be shaping up nicely.
