  • I will have to investigate better, since I did so many changing and testing (even using my old laptop). For what I have seen now, since it is working, it seems that I shouldn't use " in the title.

    Last changing I did and make it work was changing the title of the game page from

    Test Demo of "FPS on Rails Template"

    to

    Test Demo of FPS on Rails Template

    and it worked!

    That's an interesting mechanics that I was wondering how was working many years ago, and even if I have a general idea today how to do it, it will be interesting to see how you made it.

    I am trying to upload with no success my template on Scirra Arcade, but I keep getting black screen as result and there's nothing it seems to help.

    At first I have removed the canvas resize instructions, thinking that that might be the problem, but nothing changed.

    I have tried to export again the game, following the various suggestion found on the forum but nothing seems working.

    I have even tried to upload as new version one of the C2 template coming with the software but I get the same exact errors.

  • I was going to buy that too but then stocked with the pi since it has a larger community. I might try the Asus too later on since it is seems much more powerful. 52 is really good but if you think that are just plain textboxes is a bit strange. Anyway, hopefully we'll find a cheap machine that runs simple games soon

  • Thank you narFsnw that solved my problem as well. I changed from Win 7 to Win 10 recently and I haven't done the network preview yet until today and I was wondering what was wrong...

    Awesome thank you for your feedback! Here's mine:

    I decided to buy a Raspberry Pi 3 B+ because my Raspberry Pi Zero W wasn't able to handle Raspbian+Chromium (kept CPU at 100%) - I was running a "game" at 800x480 and with 3 textboxes & 2 small 5FPS sprites going on at an astounding 1FPS even with WebGL active (in the game as well as Chromium).

    However, when running the Arora browser from NOOBS I got a significant improvement with an average of 7 FPS.

    In any case this isn't close to what I need (at least 20FPS) - so I hope the Pi 3 will help. Waiting for it to arrive, I'll share all the details once I get my hands on it!

    Nice to know, this will be helpful so we can exchange feedback and try to understand better the thing since I am not able to find anyone (aside for the ones in this discussion) that have done any experimentation with HTML5 games.

    Hopefully we can reach a 30 FPS for an average game soon

  • I have received my PI few days ago. Tried to install Raspian about 10 times but keep failing. It ended up that the mini SD had 50% of bad sectors. Probably a fake one. I will have to buy another one and try again.

    I might be busy in the next 2-3 weeks so I will update you in a bit.

  • Today day with the family but I have managed to keep adding features to the FPS on rails template just in time for #screenshotsaturday

    Now it is possible to see the weapon when zooming and aiming with the ironsight. If the mouse is pointing too high, then the normal crosshair appears and it disappear again when the mouse starts to go down where the weapon can cover it.

    There are also different particles for terrain, enemies and buildings when they are shot. Windows in particular can be broken and the tilemap changes.

    Added new sound effects to match the particles.
