Bad Wolf's Forum Posts

I cannot understand what is happening on this forum, so much people disappointed in Construct 3 release announcements.

About the subscription model, you can also see it the other way around. With that new model, Scirra will undoubtedly receive more revenue. That mean more resources to continue developing Construct 3 to a new level. Maybe they will decide to create those long requested native exporters because now they have the necessary resources for it.

The subscription price of 99 USD for one year is very fair even for hobbyists. Everybody has to make a living, also the Scirra team needs to support their families.

All those (unnecessary) negative comments are damaging Scirra very much. Is it your intention to harm this small company because you disagree, then continue. On the other side, being positive is so much more powerfull and will surely result in one of the best game creation development environments in the future.

It is not our place to judge Scirra marketing strategy. For your information, we will upgrade to Construct 3 according to Scirra subscription policy because in our humble opinion Construct 2 and in the future 3 is an excellent game creation tool.

Thank you TD Bauer for mentioning the date of release. I also received the email but only can see the new Construct 3 logo.

I will update from the moment Construct 3 will become available. Looking forward very much for the release.

  • Are there no other users who are playing your game and review it?

It seems very unfair towards you from this Japanese person. Competition can be very unfair, from the other side it also tells very much how sad that Japanese person is.

If you push my work down because you delivered a better game, I will indeed try to get my place back to make my game better or improve it but I will respect you as competition.

I am sure your games are better than his because otherwise he would not use such lowergrade methods.

Just fight him back positively. I am sure users will see through is tactics.

  • Hello everybody,

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know in which language the Construct 2 tool is written?

After reading the blog about multiple threading (why do events run on a single core), I just wondered.

If this is secret, it is fine for me and I will understand.

    Have a nice day.

    Friendly greetings,

  • I found Kotobee, which has a free Author application. With this application you can make interactive ebooks for epub, kindle and many other formats.

I am also writing stories and was looking for making ebooks interactive. In my free time I looked for a solution where I could integrate the html5 Construct 2 interactive projects with an easy ebook creation. I am not far enough in the process but use the strong features of each package (Scirra for the actual interactivity creation and Kotobee for the creation of the ebook) will provide you with the interactive ebook you are looking for.

I am sure when I think about it, that you can create the whole ebook with Construct 2 but you have to do more things yourself.

I was happily surprised to find this flip ebook thread started somewhere in 2013. This proves again the powerfull versability of Construct 2!!!

  • Hi 9ar7k,

I watched the first episode of your "Beginner Platformer Series" and it is very informative and clear. I have only two constructive remarks :

First, the speed of your talking is in many places too fast. Maybe good for an english speaker but for a person where the native language is not English, can be a problem.

Second, you should make the explanation of properties, methods in the very first moment you are using them. In the beginning you are referring to an explanation somewhere later on. In my opinion it is better to do the explanation right away the first time.

Your tutorials are excellent and fun to follow. I will surely continue to the rest of the series. I surely recommend your tutorials. A job well done!!!

  • Thank you very much GameCorpStudio, Glerikud and TRMG for your interesting inputs.

I am indeed thinking of teach her by example with a small game. Something easy and quickly to do. For example an orange tree, a mango tree or banana tree (actually a plant but most people call it tree). The player has to catch the falling fruits in the basket.

Also after the basic project is completed, she can add more features. Like flowers in the grass, when the player walks over them they break and a point is subtracted, when he/she jumps over it there is an extra point. There can be a pond added, when the player stumbles in it, the game is over. There are so much possibilities with this theme, she has to use her fantasy.

I got that idea based on the input here. It is a small project but there is already a lot in it. And she will quickly see the results of her work. She likes drawing, so she can draw the objects of the game herself.

For me, the fun and educational touch are equally important. In her free time, learning has to be fun for her. She is a very fast learner especially with computer related things. She learns faster when she can try out and do things herself. She is quickly bored when sitting near her and explaining while she sit there. When sitting near her and explain while she does the actions keep her focussed on the task she is accomplishing.

I already downloaded and watched the suggested tutorial and that is a very good starting point. From there on, we can go further.

I will also buy and download some sprite packs, so she has a nice library where she can choose the sprites, she cannot or does not want to draw.

I appreciate all your input very much and again thank you.

Wish you all a very nice day and all the best.

  • Thank you very much GameCorpStudio for your long and interesting answer. You answered all my questions.

I will follow your advice and ask her if she is interested in creating small little games. It has to be fun for her, otherwise I would not continue with this idea.

I appreciate your advice and your time spend on my question very much. It is a great reply.

Wish you a very nice day and a lot of fun developing games.

    Friendly greetings,

  • Hello everyone,

We have a small daughter which at the end of december will be 8 years. She likes playing games on the laptop too much. She is only allowed to play BigFish games which we allow her to play. Games like the Dora line, Delicious Emily, The Island Castaway, Island Tribe, Jojo Fashion show, World Mosaics, jigsaw puzzles and other games.

But I also like her to do creative educational learning which is fun. Therefore the idea growed to let her create her own games. She is very creative a fast learner and has a lot of fantasy.

My question is : Can Construct 2 be used to let our daughter of 7 learn to create her own games succesfully? Also any idea which is the best educational method to learn her this activity will be very welcome.

I thank you in advance for your time spend on my request. Be assured that will be very much appreciated by myself and our daughter Karabo.

Wish you a very nice day.

    Friendly greetings,

    Karabo and Chris

  • Hello Kyatric,

I want to thank you for this information and also your excellent tutorials.

On this moment, I am bussy with your "Simon Says" tutorial which I like to do very much. I am sure you invest a lot of your time and efforts in creating tutorials like these.

There I want to assure you, that your hard work is very much appreciated.

    Friendly greetings,

    Chris

  • Hello Arima,

Thank you very much for sharing your experiences and solutions for using Scirra other than by hands.

I find it very amazingly what you accomplished. Really it is an accomplishment you can really be proud of and which I admire very much.

I hope your hands will be healed soon. You never know. I wish you very much success and hope to see more games from you here.

    Keep up the great work.

    Friendly greetings,

    Bad_Wolf

  • I join the club for this feature request. It will indeed very nice if we can set colors ourselves.

Just my personal preference, I set green as my comments.

Lets hope Scirra reads this and make it happen.

With Construct 2 you can be far more creative for less money.

The grass always seems greener on the other side.

  • Hello 99Instance2Go and Rexrainbow,

Thank you very much for your interesting replies. I learned a lot of your demos.

I opened the sample capx and looked to the events. It is exactly what I needed. Next weekend I will continue working on this game (I can only do this during the weekend).

I appreciate both of you, your efforts to help me very much.

    Wish you all the best!
