  • If you're like me and and have been gaming since the early 90s you'll remember games such as Contra that were challenging and fun.

Well, I have yet to come across any mobile game that captures the feel of such games. There are a few arcade style shooters on mobile platforms, but none where you have movement controls AND aiming controls.

So I've had this idea for years but haven't had the resources to get it together, as there really isn't anything out like the idea that's in my head. So I figured I'd just put it out there, because I think it has the potential to really penetrate the mobile space with plenty of room for multiple games to be based off of this template.

It is a bit dated (years old), so any ideas are welcome to improve the template. I have many game ideas based off this template alone.

    Desktop Controls:

[Left Click Mouse] -> Aim and Shoot

[Left Arrow/A] -> Move to Left Cover

[Right Arrow/D] -> Move to Right Cover

    Mobile Controls:

[Tap/Touch Screen] -> Aim and Shoot

[Touch Left Arrow/Tilt Phone Left] -> Move to Left Cover

[Touch Right Arrow/Tilt Phone Right] -> Move to Right Cover

You are vulnerable while moving or shooting.

  • What is the Enhanced service that you mention?

  • I've been looking around, does anyone know how to open old C2 projects with a missing plugin.

The plugin is the "appmobidev" created by Tap (Link: scirra.com/forum/plugin-appmobi-plugin-updates_topic55572.html).

If anyone has an old project with the plugin I sure could use it. Though it would be useful to learn about a way to open a project with missing plugins if that is at all possible.

I'm going off of old backup files on a new system and don't have access to the old system where the project was originally created.

  • Does have a copy of this old plugin in their C2 directory. I know it doesn't work, but I need it because I can't open a project without it.

    Edit:

Nevermind. After looking around a couple of days, I found an unbroken link to the git

    github.com/organillero/appMobiC2Plugin

  • Looks cool.

Trying to find where to download the behavior from. Says in the OP that included in the capx.

I just can't seem to find it lol.

    Edit:

Got it it the program. Don't know why it wasn't showing up even after restart.

    Edit2:

Yea this is freakin sweet. Appreciate it. This will be used with my first android game if it exports right.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I remember looking into Photon Cloud a while back.

Does the Construct 2 version of the plugin have compatibility with mobile platforms when exporting for android and iOS?

  • Sweet deal! Definitely backing this very soon. Would help make my life so much easier, especially when IGB 1 is ready for download.

  • Freakin sweet! Say, when you back at the $89 level, do you get immediate access to the IGB #1?

That seems like a super sweet deal you guys have got going on there.

  • I do remember seeing this way back when. I think this would come in handy for some of my projects.

I was clicking around the site and didn't see a price anywhere for the whole pack. Wasn't is like $200 post early adoption?

  • This makes the minimal crosswalk app be < 1MB. We were concerned that App Developers would think this is cumbersome and would prefer that the crosswalk runtime be embedded in the App so the end user has a single download. What do you think?

I too think Ashley's solution would be the simplest. It's what I would image using things like push updates would require anyway. Making updates for the user seamless, instead of them having to install a new apk or ipa except for maybe an update to the wrapper itself.

And the build works and ran on an HTC Evo. The touch buttons were a tad laggy. But I'm going to see where I can optimize that I haven't already.

    Really glad it's working now. <img src="smileys/smiley20.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • IntelRobert Thanks for the update. I will definitely be trying this out in a little while.

  • ghost Be sure you're using the new export to Android (which using the new crosswalk stuff) option when exporting.

When setting up a new project in XDK New be sure to copy and paste the files that were exported from C2 into the folder that you selected for your new project in Intel XDK New, replacing any files that show a conflict when pasting.

Also, check this thread out as there seems to be a few things they're working out as we speak.

    Hope this helps some.

  • IntelRobert Thanks for that. I'd love to know when the issue is resolved. It's about to time to move some projects forward.

    Paradox Lol.

  • spy84 I'm not sure what it is. Funny thing is it was building the apk properly and sending me a link when I set the project up wrongly.

Now that I have set the project up correctly (at least I think I have as it actually pops up in the simulators now) the option to download and send to email never appears like it did at first.

I know it's in beta and it seems very promising, but I can't wait to get to testing. I have "vacation" time and I want to spend it developing mobile games with C2.

  • spy84 That did help and thanks. I haven't tinkered with the XDK in a while ha.

But now when I try the build process it builds then nothing happens afterward. When I tried it yesterday it gave me the option to download on send to email. It even sent an email automatically without me entering my email address. Today it's not doing anything after the build process says has "completed".

I've read others having this issue, what did you do to resolve it?
