pretty badass if you ask me:

here's the homepage:(take a look at the tutorials. it's nuts):

  • Nice but for what OS's it is for?

Is it just for Android? (what is this anyway? never heard of Android before, sorry) or for Windows as well?

Andriod is a operating system developed by Google for mobile phones. And no, i don't think it can work of windows as well, but you can use a Andriod emulator to test you apps on PC.

  • right, but the creation tool itself runs in a browser

the apps and games you make run on android

Android is the OS that's in the gradual process of dethroning IPhone as The smartphone

What year was Android created? is it recent and is it complete or beta?

  • Utube vid of Appinventor.

And a Utube of Construct for comparison.

  • Not sure when I was completed. But its by Google, complete and on v2.2. In fact,I'm posting this message from my android phone

  • I've been beta testing this for a while now, and I have to say that it's a great concept, but has a long way to go.

It is web based, and works quite well once you get past the Java problem of running the blocks editor.

It has a lot of short-comings, and I'm hoping that it's because it's an early beta.

I'm still programming the Android version of my game directly in Java because the App Inventor is way off from being able to do it.

App Inventor has great potential should Google choose to put the work into it.

My fear is that it will not become as advanced as is needed for serious Indie development, and is aimed at anybody and everybody to create simple apps that will sustain the deployment of google ads via free games.

I've asked Google for a roadmap for App Inventor, but I am yet to hear back.

    Krush.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I think the event system takes the "puzzle blocks" idea a bit too literally. It looks a bit messy compared to a Construct event list.

I wonder if I could persuade Google to write an exporter for Construct 2 instead?

    This. Do it.

    Oooooo......

Actually Android powered phones will eventually take over and bury the iphone. Apple never learned their Mac lesson and keeping the iPhone a closed system. Android had taken a look at history and going the PC route.

The only thing that iPhone has over Android is a head start but Android is coming up fast. The newest versions are sic.

  • Apparantly (in Australia) the HTC Desire (which runs on Android) has already sold more units in a month, than the iPhone to date.

    Die Steve Jobs... DIE!

  • Very cool concept. Hopefully a more fully-featured and thoughtfully designed program is in the works ('tis only a beta build, after all).
