Gui tilemaps

Anybody thought about doing interfaces etc using the tilemap object?

Its got built in box construction at least, and might even lend itself to standardising gui development via spritesheets.

Been using tilemaps as a "animation controller" for some objects, but GUI hmm. That indeed sounds interesting.

Just need to figure out what other elements it can be used for, besides a box.

Then even as a box it might be somewhat limited, can't move it... at least not easily.

Would probably need quite a bit in events, especially for an animation. Not sure if that can be standardised, unless you copy events from a example capx.

Thinking about that I realize that with quite few different cells you could actually make yourself nice looking panels, which could extend 9-patch because you are not restricted to quad or rectangle shapes.

True, and you could also do repeating patterns.
