For my little program BBhwb@RT I used the image manipulator.

You can use it to get the RGB value of any pixel, you will have to paste in a sprite or a canvas first though.

Yeah, Image manipulator is the way to go. You can get alpha as well.

i looked through all the actions of the image manipulator before posting, should of thought about going through the expressions, *derf*
