  • I posted the idea for a Construct RTP for graphics and sounds a while back, and I think I'll hold up my end of the bargain, or just share any graphics I can spare. I really want your thoughts on an old RPG Maker XP edit I made for the good ol' VBGore users: http://www.syboard.net/mmorpg/fjarmor.png

It isn't all that original. I'm just a fan of The Legend of Dragoon.

I made a new character art style with the red armor, as well: http://www.syboard.net/mmorpg/fjpreview.gif

This one is what I was working with as the character style in my Sims style game.

If anyone wants to team up to create a Construct Graphics Pack or just a compilation of royalty-free graphics (optionally, sounds, as well) for all freeware games, please, post a reply. If you like the idea but can't help, you're welcome to show your support for the topic by saying so. I'll be setting up a website for the compilation in a week or two if enough people are interested.

  • I think this is a great idea. Construct doesn't ship with any graphics libraries at all. Sadly, I suck at art.

  • If you focus lots of time into art, you'll eventually get better!

  • From what I've seen that'd take a while.

    Kidding.

  • What would take a while?

I'm trying to get other artists to chip into a graphics resource. I will contribute some character sprites and some other small things. We should provide GUI parts, possibly some emote bubbles, and some trees and buildings. Some tiles for RPGs would probably be a good idea, as well.

If any artists are interested, I would love to see some samples or receive whatever will be contributed. This will be useful for all game engines; not just Construct. This graphics pack could become useful in the Game Maker community and the RPG Maker community.

  • Mr. moving entirely to Ubuntu is building a resource pack for Construct? Aww.

I'm already doing a lot with my own projects but I'll contribute a few things. I don't know what styles would be wanted (probably all) but here's an example of some of mine:

    <img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b161/buddy40/Trees.png">

Did them very quickly, but it should give somewhat of an idea of my style(s).

(Edit: Doesn't have to be small either, can do large sprites as well.)

He just wants to run off with our sprites! Make your own sprites, dammit!

    (Just kidding )

  • Just to clarify, this graphics pack would be useful for more than just Construct users, and those trees look great. Any chance of outline-less versions for anyone using sprites outside of that style?

I will mock up a website in a couple days and include those trees as a start. What would be a good title for the graphics pack? I'm thinking we could separate the packs into an audio pack and a visuals pack.

  • Absolutely possible without the outlines, they are there just to stick them out of the pink/purple background.

Sometime this week I'll mow through a bunch of assorted things and compile them.

I should note they also won't be having AA around the edges either.

  • Just a bit of an inspiring webpage: http://www.fantasyjam.net/ggr

I don't have anything other than text at the moment.

If I could get some resources collected, I would get our first package uploaded.

Also, in a short while, that site (FantasyJam) will have a complete forum system, so we could theoretically keep in contact through the website. I just need to get the PM and Reply features ready.

  • Sorry to say I won't be contributing to this for now, for two reasons.

The big one is I'm just busier than I expected to be, and secondly because I'd rather support Construct purely (as in, not open to just any app as a resource.)

Regardless of the above, I do wish you luck

  • I've to suggest something like "Dynamic Libraries".

Everyone makes their sprite library and publish it on Exchange.

It would be great and useful for each developers.

I've having problem because I bought a new computer (which is awesome) and I have to pass everything from another computer, a 3GB folder with construct stuff. I'm not saying this is hard or it takes time, but I had to use the sprites yesterday in a project, and I couldn't. If I had my own library on Exchange, everything would've been better.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • SuperV, I could essentially set up a file-sharing area for us, an upload script, and make sure everything is categorized. The way it would work is you would log into the site (my site, ha) and go to the upload page. Then, you'd simply upload your files, and it would upload them to your user directory. This is how Geocities and all those other free webhosts work, too.

Further onto the topic of Construct-only graphics:

Jeswen, I said before that I was supporting all forms of game development, and some people can't even play Construct games, so why not support actual programmers? If I was making a game, purely in Python, but couldn't draw if my life depended on it, you wouldn't help by giving me graphics? Just because I don't use Construct?

I'm moving away from Windows, and Construct is DirectX-based, so I've abandoned it. I want my games to be playable in Ubuntu and all those other Linux distributions, along with Windows.

Construct is a great app. I'm not bashing it!

  • Well, I'm up for it. The website thing I mean.

Here's my mockup site I made with Dragory today.

    http://www.namelezz.net/lib/

I'll try and get a good PHP coder to get us some scripts to get this all running.

That's is pretty much accurate. There are graphics resources out there already for various purposes, and I still support another one ... However, I don't have much interest in contributing to yet another anything-goes resource.

I am here to support Construct, and I would want my resources in a CAP file so that people would need to download Construct to use them, thus contributing more than just artwork.

I'm sorry but, I'm just not interested. I mean nothing by it.

On a side note, if I do have some free time, I might put together a cap of a few things but again, it will be in cap form.
