Construct 0.89 released

    0.89 has the usual slew of bugfixes, a few new features, and the return of 10 plugins.

    The under-the-hood changes to make an SDL software runtime and Python scriptability are also being prepared, so we should have news on this front soon!

    Changelog:

    • 'Force own texture' option added to layers: changes rendering to make Erase effects work (use instead of 99% opacity)
    • Added ability to get object count on a specific layer - pass a layer parameter to TotalObjects (eg. TotalObjects("Layer 1"))
    • Fixed collision bugs involving very wide objects and issues with nonrotated objects
    • Improved stability of Create Hinge to Object in Physics movement (calling at certain times was unstable)
    • Some people reported 3DBox not appearing in the object list. This ought to be resolved.
    • RTS movement: enhanced Pathfinding settings allowing you to specify other types to navigate around other than 'Solid'
    • Double-clicking a sprite in the layout editor now edits the frame that it is showing
    • Application properties: added 'FPS in caption' option for easy performance tests
    • Array object: added compare value at x, xy, xyz conditions
    • INI object is back
    • Date object is back
    • Image object is back
    • AVI object is back
    • Card game object is back
    • Progress object is back
    • Window object is back
    • Path object is back
    • ZIP object is back
    • List object is back

    Edit: This seems good! Some wierd things happened though. When i created events, sometimes they just wasn't created, or for example when i took "on collision between A and B" it became "On collision between A and A".

  • I can confirm that issue Attan mentioned as well. In some instances, creating anything between 2 objects, A & B, does indeed result A & A.

    3D Box is no longer black for me though (since 0.88 ).

  • Well I can't reproduce the collisions thing, if I add an event testing for collision between Sprite1 and Sprite2, it seems to work fine. Which objects dont seem to work correctly? Is it when using an attribute, or family, or something? Which events specifically "just don't get created"?

  • I don't remember, it only happened once. The A+B= A+A thing happened with sprites, no familys or other tricky thing.

    I managed to create a chain! But when i write

    Sprite 2: Create hinge to "sprite 1" image point "point" with Stiffness 99

    It becomes

    Sprite 2: Create hinge to "sprite 1" with stiffness "point"

    I can confirm this, I've had the same problem.

  • Woops, that's a cosmetic problem, fixed for 0.89. The action still works like you made it (the image point is "point" and the stiffness is 99), it's just displaying it wrong.

  • I experience a new crash!

    When I just open the picture editor three times, it crashes. If I open the editor by double-clicking on a sprite, a normal windows crash message appears. If I open the editor clicking on a frame in the animation bar it first shows error message "R6025 -pure virtual fuction call", then "picture editor crashed, please report this to scirra" and then normal windows crash message.

    This crash makes using construct pretty much impossible, or uncomfortable, at least. Please fix it quickly :/.

    Edit: Does anybody else experience this? I just thought 'cause nobody has been talking about this crash and it's pretty obvious.

  • I can't reproduce it.

    One of the most important bugs that's still left is the "round everything down" bug. I still can't write values with decimals.

    I still get this every time, only instead of opening the editor three times, I can open it ten times before it crashes.

    I have no idea what's causing it, and apparently Ashley has made a fix that fixes it for some people, but I still get the crash every time. I keep hoping with each new release it'll be fixed <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" title="Sad" />

  • Interestingly, the 'if I drag things around in the event editor, Construct crashes' bug is back in this version. It seemed to be fixed in .88, but now I can't reorder anything without it crashing on me again.

  • 3D box doesn't make workspace black, but when i try to run it, the program crashes with this dialog box:

    I hope it's going to be fixed.

    And i made physics demo with 3d box object and it's still working.

  • Woops, made a mistake in the code for that... it's fixed in 0.9!
