10 Retro songs ideal for platformers or farming games
  • Hello everyone! It's been a while since I made my last game, Ninja Tag! Perhaps try it out with a friend if you haven't already. Anyways, this new game is going to be, yet again a platformer! This time I'm trying to introduce some new characters and mix in a bit of lore for my little ninja universe!

This was actually supposed to be a sequel of an older game I made but it got scrapped due to the lack of interest I had for it. But now, I'm recycling the idea of my ninja character adventuring and creating an entirely new game! Here's the new logo for the game! :D

I've been working on it for a couple of weeks now, but this is the first time I'm sharing my progress. I've got most of the UI done for the start of the game, so it's a matter of creating more content for my game!

A new adventure with new characters awaits!

  • Thanks Pigpud!

Anyways, I'm back with a couple updates! To start, I'm thinking of adding 3 cutscenes for my game; a start Cutscene, a Cutscene once you beat half the levels, and an end cutscene. They're indicated by this grey button!

It's a small snippet of the level select screen, which may have around 16-24 levels depending on how many I can create. But the cutscenes are optional, so unless you want some lore, you don't have to watch them.

If you don't already know, this is going to be a platformer which needs quite a couple obstacles in the way! So for now, I made a simple health system for my game.

It's quite simpler than other health indicators I've made in the past, but I think it'll work fine for this game. You have infinite lives as well since you could always just try again. No checkpoints though. A trade-off between the two.

And you can wall jump in the game as well! It was a suggestion from one of my older games by user DaniAuf, so I gotta give credit where it's due.

While I made the game from scratch, I used an older project as a reference (Ninja Parkour REMADE) since it closely resembled my current game albeit having less than awesome sprite work. Mainly, I swapped out the jetpack feature the ninja had with wall-jumping (the same going for another feature as it probably wouldn't be of much use).

    And finally..........

    an apple :3

You could probably guess what this does...

Anyways, that's all I'll reveal for now. I'll continue working on the game, however, as there is a lot to be done. For now, stay awesome! :D

  • It's been nearly two weeks since I've made an update, and I've got some pretty good progress. To start off, I've got around 4 levels done and I'm moving on to working on the 5th. I won't exactly reveal how many levels there will be yet, but there are quite a lot.

Also, like in an earlier game that I made, there are going to be different environments that you, the player, can adventure! They're going to take up around 4 levels, just to give you guys an idea on how I'm executing this.

And one more thing, I already mentioned that I'm making some cutscenes for my game, and while you don't have to watch them, I'm making three of them! I like drawing them out to have a sort of storyboard, so I present this drawing, part of the first cutscene.

I'll be using the storyboard as a reference when animating the cutscenes, so this frame is more likely than not being added into the first cutscene.

Anyways, that's pretty much all I have for now. Let me know if you've got any suggestions as I can try to incorporate them (even though I've got like two events left since I have a free account ;-;). Anyways, see you soon, and stay awesome!

    :D
