How do I put an instance variable in a textbox?

So, I'm testing something out and I'd like if I could temporarily make it so that a textbox displays the variable.

I would appreciate if someone could tell me how to make textboxes have instance variables in them. I saw some old forum posts and none of their answers worked.

There should be a Instance variable Add/edit box in the object properties menu.
