  • I left these forums for a few months now because I didn't have time to develop my side-projects with Construct 2/3. While I read all the new release notes, and official announcements and blog posts, I'd like to ask the community:

How is Construct 3 standing now? How it feels to develop your projects with it?

Do we have PayPal payment options available or any information on when it might be an option?

Any hints or announcements on the forums by Scirra regarding future developments or licensing?

While I understand the need for this, out of curiosity: Are we still blocked from editing our projects when our licenses expire?

Do we know anything about the standalone version of C3?

  • Try Construct 3

  • It's about the same. Lots of bug squashing, but you expect that with change into a platform that's not really designed for this.

Most if not all the new features that were promised for the release are done. The plugin sdk is still missing the drawing portion, but that's not a huge issue considering the plans for the runtime revamp would scrap it anyway. No eta for the new runtime btw.

All in all its pretty close to grand opening time imo.

There will be no editing of projects over the free limits for accounts without subscriptions.

That part is not going to change.

As is, the free version allows opening of projects of any size, but does not allow editing of caps over the limit without a paid subscription.

  • So far C3 is awesome. There are a few things that need to be fixed but they are being fixed pretty fast. Can't wait to see what else comes out.

  • I play around with C3 once in a while, and it seems like most critical bugs are dealt with at the moment. Seems fairly stable, and not much new coming in to the bug tracker. It has cooled down. I had no problem moving over some of my projects to C3 as I don't really rely much on 3rd party plugins, and I really like that I can just fiddle around at work when I have time over, so having C3 on the web, seems like very nice thing for me at least.

More payment options, standalone etc I guess will come sooner or later, but seems like they have more important stuff in the pipeline first.

  • Paypal support is actively being developed and coming on well - I think it'll be ready in 2 - 3 weeks.

  • Thank you for the answers.

This is good news, I'm eagerly waiting for this.

  • Hey, while on topic:

Do Scirra Store assets and templates work with C3? Or do they currently only work with C2?

  • They should all work with C3, unless they use third party plugins that have not yet been ported to C3.
