How do I get alerts/notifications one other comments/replies/posts etc on a certain thread (which isn't mine)?

The only way to I've found to see if anyone else has said anything is to:
- go through my browser history and find the thread
- bookmark the thread
- use the search bar in my profile for my posts and then click the link to the thread.
Please enlighten me.

I don't think it's possible right now. Maybe Tom could do some sort of topic subscription in the future? I'm pretty sure a lot of people would find that useful.
