Selection frame like in RTS games, works both on mobile and desktop devices.
  • When I am making a complex composite background I often find it difficult to select the sprite that I want to shift or otherwise alter. Apart from moving other sprites out of the way I have not found a good way to deal with multiple overlapping sprites on the same layer.

I was thinking that it would be great if we could use the z-order panel to select the sprite as a simple alternative to direct clicking the sprite. The most obvious solution would be double clicking the item in the panel.

Any one got an alternative method of selecting sprites that I don't know about?

  • I too wish for that. My Orbital Bomb-Bounder game has 93 stacked sprites making up the planets. (90 are the same instance, different animations and frames) The layout editor became pretty much useless for adding levels.

Had I thought more about it, I would have put each ring of planet on it's own layer.

The z-order is the most logical as it lists each instance already. Only Ashley knows if it's actually possible to use it that way though.

  • I wish I could lock individual things from being selected.

  • Added to todo list.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Sorry to bump but is this still being added? It will be very helpful. Currently you can only "select" tilemaps from the z order bar to make switching tilemaps quicker, or double click to flash the object, but not select it.

  • Im in dire need of this. I hope the item selection will auto scroll to the selected item because flashing it is pretty much useless. Make it auto zoom to median for multiple selection.

  • I wish I could lock individual things from being selected.

+1 or perhaps visual locked group? Just like how we use families. A small list where we move everything we want to lock to the right side of the menu, and anything we feel we would still like to tinker with, on the left side of the menu.

  • +1 As the scene gets more and more complex, it would be a HUGE time saver, not mentioning the positive influence on mental health :)

  • Ashley Can this feature jump to higher priority list? All we need is to be able to set element active by clicking it in Z order tab, instead flashing it.

  • I am sure we all understand the todo list must be huge. It does seem however that some stuff just gets forgotten. This has been on the list for ages.

As for selecting sprites underneath other sprites you can always hold the tab key and click to cycle through the sprites

  • spongehammer I didn't know this trick. Thanks. Anyway, my request stays valid.
