John Wicked is a shooter game where you aim to destroy enemies with pistol shots.

    After making sure I understand C2;

purchasing courses and spending time to learn the software (countless hours, which turned out to be a total waste of my time),

after sending a pre-sales email which said making Andoid and Amazon games are easy I invested my money into this.

Now I literally spend more time trying to figure out how in the hell to get me app on Google Play. So here's my take of this and my utter disappointment in what I believe in FALSE advertising.

On your home page you make it look very easy but the reality is that:

    • You have no video tutorials which is what most people prefer.
    • You're tutorials are outdated and written by other people, so that is not to say they will always work
    • You have no tutorials other than the manual which is actually helpful and structured, you can't find answers and have to look all over the place jumping from useless tutorial to another even more useless piece of information.
    • You do not cater for total beginners like me at all
    • You make use of third parties to do heavy lifting for you, and by the way, I do not want to waste my money on software and than have to see a "powered by Ludei" on my app screen like I saw with one of the apps from another developer. Why in the hell would I then waste my money on software, then I would rather go and learn a much harder opensource alternative.

I can go on and on and on and on about how you fail your customers. I am so, so disappointed. Because of you, I have wasted weeks of my time and you sit back and make money and don't give a flying f*ck about the little guy like me. Yes, your software may be easy to learn, but seriously, you tell me what good is a game if you have so much sh!t trying to monetize it? We all are just trying to make some money.

You have to go through so much sh!t and hassles to export your app. For each platform it is different and if there was at least an up to date video tutorial accompanied by a step by step (not assuming we are programmers or experts) it might be worth of the crap and not a complete waste of your time. Seriously, if you expect people to pay for what you advertise than make sure you can back up your claims.

People like me who strive to do things right do not appreciate going through some shitty third party crap that don't work and have their "powered by logo" appear on my app. Others don't care, I DO!!!!!!!!

I would be all supportive in buying your software if it actually works and does what it promises. I'm, not going to waste my time further. I would like to say in closing that I hope you're really satisfied with wasting weeks of my precious time. I am pissed to say the very least. I could have done something else or learned something like Gamesalad while having to sit and trying to figure out this crosswalk and cocoonjs crap.

I WANT MY MONEY BACK PLEASE!!!! I don' expect answers from a forum when I have issues, I expect solutions, step by step guides, that should have been done before anything else to make sure a paying client get's all the help he needs.

My time that I wasted I could have made money doing something else. Let me rather stop because I value my time and my level of frustration is ....

Tell me what I need in order to get my damn money refunded and please I don't have time for people mucking with me over my hard earned money.

Instead of posting a pointless tirade and then saying you don't want forum responses, why not just email scirra directly.

In this world it takes hard work, long hours, persistence and motivation to succeed.

    the same applies with C2.

It is not rational to bash a software that gave you the opportunity within a few hours to make even a simple game when most people in the industry

have gone to college, have a masters degree in programming, work 12 hours a day for a decade invest hundreds of thousand of $$

and still haven't made any serious money-if any- with games.

    Is this software perfect?No

Is life perfect? No, you die...

is this software perfect for the price it costs and the future it brings? hell yeah!

put in the hard work and maybe soon your views on this subject might change.

    just my 2 cents.

Instead of posting a pointless tirade and then saying you don't want forum responses, why not just email scirra directly.

Agreed, it is fruitless to rage, a fault I have myself . Contact them directly, but you might not get the response you want.

[quote:f4kte0oz]I don' expect answers from a forum when I have issues, I expect solutions, step by step guides, that should have been done before anything else to make sure a paying client get's all the help he needs.

Remember those very same folks who you expect solutions, step by step guides, and everything else are paying clients just like you and don't owe you anything. Pick a community in game dev and you will find same folks there, small community stretched over lots of software.

I wouldn't waste my time with game salad, rather go learn Unity3d, you will see far better results but warn you their exporters are better than competitors, they are just as much of a nightmare -

And expect unity3d to take over a year to learn and even then you will just be able to use it, but nowhere near master it.

If you have programming experience, you can learn anything in 6 months, if you have zero experience, expect up to 2 years.

Construct2 lowers this to no experience 6 months, experience programmers a month.

You will rarely find any tutorials that will solve your exact problem, if you look at tutorials for graphic software, they might explain how you can turn a tomato yellow using certain techniques, that you can then use to also turn a car yellow. To expect anyone that create software to make tutorials for every single thing that someone can think off would be crazy. So it makes a lot of sense to make tutorials that covers certain areas with different techniques that people can then apply to there own projects.

If you look at the forum and see how many different things people are asking for help with, I think you can see why your demands would never work.

[quote:344blo1p]People like me who strive to do things right do not appreciate going through some shitty third party crap that don't work and have their "powered by logo" appear on my app. Others don't care, I DO!!!!!!!!

Of course people care, but they find solutions to this instead. The reason they use third party is because its a complete chaos to make games for all platforms who all want to use there own special way of doing things, because making standard in the industry is apparently not very important. That is not really Scirra fault. If you look at developers that make PC games they might not want to make it available for MAC OSX, PS2 etc etc. If it was just to press a button and then the game worked on all platforms, all types of hardware etc then they would of course do that.

Also this is a forum where people can help each other, its not a place where you go post "I need my game to work on android, google play and all other platforms, just mail it to me when its done. thx bye"

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

So basically you're the type of person who wants a 100% outcome for 0% invest.

There are plenty of tutorials that will guide you to put your games on Google Play - if you're not happy with these or need more instructions, just open a thread and people will help you achieve your goal.

Actually having third party stuff is pretty good. As it allows each company to focus on their own product and make things better all along.

With that kind of attitude I'm sure you will get great sympathy from everyone. Agreed with Zenox98 that you would have been much better with a more polite email direct to Scirra rather than posting on here.

Scirra's made it fairly clear now that exporting to Android uses third party wrappers such as CocoonJS. The recently updated XDK tools even allow you to export without a splash screen for free.

There are plenty of tutorials / manuals on this online. A quick google search or youtube search never hurt anybody and you can learn most things these days with a little savvy....

You complain about wasting weeks of your time with C2 but I suggest checking out what other options you have out there! I've used Unity, Multimedia Fusion, tried XNA for xbox and Game Salad. I have found Construct 2 to be the most user friendly interface of all of them. Have you even tried free versions of the alternatives?

If you want to make games with no programming try MMF2 or Game Salad. Although judging by your post, MMF2 will upset your bank balance and game salad your patience.

Then you can try Unity3d. Its free and you can export direct to Android .apk. Plus its 3d. Although you will need to learn some basic programming and spend a lot more than a 'few weeks' of wasted time there. I've been to Unity several times and made a few simple apps but its definately not an easy thing to do! Animations, screen layouts, collisions. Nothing is taken care of with no code / automatically like you get in C2.

I think its hilarious that so many people expect to make an app and get rich from it. Making a mobile app is definitely a lot more accessible than it was several years ago but it means there are thousands of apps out there now so its harder to make money. Even once you work out how to get Ads in you are not going to be able to retire from it unless you make a really great app or hit it very lucky!

In most cases you get what you paid for in life. Check the price of full versions of Unity3d, Multimedia Fusion 2, Gamesalad and I think 99% of people would agree with me that C2 is the best value for money. Just remember its HTML5 based. Something Scirra doesn't hide and explains very clearly on the website and forum. HTML5 is new to mobile phones and the technology changes so rapidly. Support is only going to get stronger and eventually I wouldn't be surprised if we get a one click export.

There is no easy way to make games. If there was we would all do it! Fact is there isn't an easy way but C2 is one of the easiest ways. If you need any help exporting / adding ads it is possible you just need to search the forum or speak to people (politely) online. I've had a lot of help from a few users to get ads working, games exported, online features etc.

Your best bet is to try the above alternatives and send a polite email to Scirra.

Oh look its a new week already.

Perhaps you could go the other route, and ask Google to make the process simpler on their end, or heck just ask for your money back from them.

All information regarding Pros and Cons is clearly visible throughout the forum, including all the issues users encounter with the wrappers.

This should have been investigated and fully understood BEFORE purchasing (this goes for all users currently thinking of purchasing).

To then turn around and request a refund is IMO ridiculous. If someone hasn't researched adequately before purchasing, then it is entirely there own responsibility.

    lol, are you serius?

construct 2 is the easiest software I've ever used!! If you don't know how use it is your problem, in the forum you can find everythings!

the problem is other, for make a games you need more skill... if you never program anything or never try to use other software you can't understand!

if construct2 is difficult for you, you should look the example and try to understand how works! remember, construct2 is a "logic and visual programming"...

try to make your own script in java, lua or different code and see the difference

for the exports, in my opinion construct2 is a little bit frustrating (cooconJS...or others platform... ) but we need to wait....

so, if you don't know how program, construct2 is a good start to you to understand how the Object oriented programming working...

    Hi Everyone

Maybe I was a bit harsh, and I apologize, I appreciate the comments and feedback and currently busy at looking at other alternative. Believe it or not, but I'm not a forum guy. I prefer to Google and look up videos to help me instead.

I just expected what I normally give my clients. When they pay me, I always and always over-deliver. I specifically asked in the pre-sales email, so I am disappointing that is is so confusion and not as clear as it sounded. Am I willing to work hard, yes, I have done so. After learning Java, I developed over 20 apps in the app stores with only beginners Java and I decided to try gaming.

I would sit for another week if there was a tutorial that was precise and make no assumptions about your level of understanding. Maybe I'm just used to buying software and sitting with the manuals that come with it, if the answer is in that manual I will find it and have no reason to complain otherwise. I admit this might have been the wrong place for this. I'm used to sitting and trying to figure something out, watching videos and reading manuals.

I think I'm definitely going to spend more time developing my other non-gaming apps in Java instead, which had been very successful so far. My attitude is pure frustration, I searched Google I tried the instructions step by step, most which worked until you get to exporting. Sorry everyone!!!!

The idea is also not to get rich, but to at least make a few $ every month as every bit helps.

Again, guys I am sorry for going on, I guess I need more patience but I don't expect to make make my problems other people's. If any of you have used Game Maker before, please let me know what you think of it. Yes I'm sad that I am not going to use Construct anymore because I've invested so much time in it and have created 2 apps, and a few other ones too. So I know the basics, enough create simple games and apps.

Anyway, sorry for wasting your time and I do apologize for posting in the wrong place. None of this was directed at any members of the forum but to Scirra instead, which should have and will be an email. After relaxing I now realize that these guys are also overworked maybe and need to stay up to date with the software and can't really do things like video tutorials etc. Anyway, I'll be seeing you guys. All the best with the game development.

    After making sure I understand C2;

OK. So basically you want a "make a game" button. To be honest, Construct 2 is very good at what it do. Make games.. for anything else you will have to learn by yourself. You must experiment things.. you can't expect to have something done right away in an hour.

This engine have more tutorials, more guide and a very complete comprehensive manual compared to other software in the category i tried. So i can't agree with your comments sorry.
