Casino? money? who knows? but the target is the same!
  • Alright so I’ve been working with a freelancer to develop a game in Construct 2 and eventually he’ll send me the APK to send to the Google Play Store. This freelancer has a Construct 2 license but I do not, eventually I was planning to buy a license so I could update the game myself, can I do this? I feel like I can as this is done with big companies, you have the developers then the publishers.

  • You cannot edit the apk, the freelancer sould send the capx file so you can edit the game.

I am currently seeking clarification, but from previous similar posts, I would say that if you intend to gain financially, then you are in violation of the free license agreement.

In addition, looking at the licensing terms it looks like any user who creates an APK for you which has bypassed the free license limitation may also be in violation of the terms.

    Licensing terms:

This is just from my understanding from previous similar posts, but as soon as I get any info from Tom I'll let you know.

    Cheers

Hm... Well I was going to do it this way as the Construct 2 pricing is expensive, then if I reach $5000 in revenue I’ll have to upgrade, that’s a small investment for me. I really wish Construct 2 does what Construct 3 does, for indie developers allow unlimited revenue on personal plans, then again I have to worry about $100 a year rather than the one-time payment, it’s tough.

zenox98 Where can I go to learn more about the Construct 3 pricing? The biggest concern is if I don’t pay for next years $99, will I just lose the right to make revenue? It’s very confusing.

  • Yeah, I'm looking at needing the upgrade for C2 when I would have rather gone on to C3, but it's nowhere near the level needed to do professional work.

Upgrading and then doing the subscription is just not going to work.

Then to top it off the stores down. wah

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • The store issues have been reported to Tom but it's the weekend, so it's doubtful it will be looked into earlier than Monday.

I thought that was just me

So if the freelancer sent me the Capx and I bought a C3 Plan and opened it there, then I’d be allowed to put it on the Playstore with ads?

  • Hi Caesar,

To clarify (and this applies to C2 and C3):

    • If you pay someone to make a game for you, and they send you a game you're allowed to publish/sell/distribute as you wish without limitation.
    • If you yourself wish to make any changes to the game project files and publish these changes, you will need a C2 or C3 license.

    Hope that clears it up!
