  • Problem Description

____ It is not something that I can really prove with a .capx file for it only happens when using construct 2 for a very long time especially when hibernated. Objects icons in the project bar tends to interchange, Object images in preview also interchanges, events doesn't run or not properly. At first I thought the events not running properly was something I did wrong and the sprite images too but when I "saved" my work and restarted construct 2, everything was in order and running again. I think this is a bug that is produced by the program itself because all my saved work was working and inorder again after C2 restart.___

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • Step 2: Make many sprites tiles and objects in the project bar and also havemany layouts and eventsheets with very advanced and long events.
    • Step 3: se Copy and paste frequently and also use undo and redo frequently. Then the weird effects will show up.

  • That would be due to OS, and hardware rather than C2.

You could try stopping some other resources that are also using ram, as its most likely the culprit.

  • I think actually newt might be on to something. Overheating graphics card, not enough memory or the likes are most probably the culrpit.

Remember AERO is needed under Windows to prevent screen tearing but it also consumes about 1 GB of RAM.

  • Try going to File>Preferences>Misc and uncheck "Cache icons in editor for better performance". That's the typical culprit for this because it bumps up against (and through) Windows' object limit. This only really happens on projects with a lot of objects in it because of all the different-sized icons and such loaded for it. It'll make editing events and such a touch slower depending on how big your game is, but rock-solid stable.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

I don't think so that my PC is the cause for it barely heats up even though it's a fanless ultrabook, I have enough ram in my pc. And it happened in two of my Computer.

    Task Manager Overall Usage:

    Ram Consumption : 10 to 20 %

    CPU Consumption 3 to 25 %

But it is nothing serious actually cause it happens only when you use it for a very long time and frequently using redo, undo, copy, paste and heavy import of objects and heavy event making. But I still reported it for some people may get confused that their events doesn't work suddenly and object images (especially similar images or duplicated-edited images) interchanges.

Yeah! I believe that could be a cause of icons interchanging. Great Thanks C-7

I do not think it is the case now. As I stated above..

  • It's a little bit of everything.

Remember ram is constantly swapping out parts, and some may just be lost in the hibernate process.

  • If unchecking "Cache icons in editor for better performance" fixes this, then it's due to a limit in the Windows OS itself rather than C2, so closing. If you still think there is an issue, please make sure you follow the bug report guidelines such as by providing a .capx with specific steps to reproduce, otherwise there is nothing that can be done.

  • Do you have the steam version and put all you projects files in the same folder as the .caproj? If so try exporting the game as a new caproj in a different area away from your music/sounds/art and opening that new version.

When I did this it stopped a 5min+ wait on saving back to seconds and constant slowdown when using the editor after 10 minutes on my project.

No. I use the website version. And I always export to .Capx file (compressed format)

Yeah, I really can't prove it unless other people do a stress test with their PC. Maybe PC's are never mean't to be open that long, I'll just keep restarting my PC everyday or Restart Construct 2 once in a while.
