    Optimize code greatly for many free events (+20)

  • Looking back at the Event Sheet there are actually quite a few things I could improve on to get more events...

  • If you look in the browser console you should be able to see your times per level

  • I think I got 39 seconds and a bit once, but movement seems a bit weird on lower fps which gives you better times

    The current build contains many bugs I have yet to fix. With the school term in full swing, and my quickly-fading motivation to work on this game (and to just use Construct in general), this version may never be fixed. If it doesn't, I will (hopefully) release the source code on the last day of July, so that somebody may be able to fix it up.

    Hi!

    Sorry I haven't been updating in quite a bit. The Construct editor is quite a pain to work with expanding projects - I actually haven't touched it in months. 50 events just don't cut it.

    I do believe there is actually a restart button in the game, just that I had no more events left and as such could not code it in.

    There is also many unoptimised and just generally bad code from a performance viewpoint - this is also relating to the 50 event restriction. Did you know folders counts as an event? This is why in the source code of the game where I wanted to put a folder, I would put a comment instead.

    I'm planning to release a final version for bhop that is fully open source under the permissive GPLv3 license - as such somebody can continue this project if they wanted to. There will be notes inside as well with things which I wanted but could not do.

    Sorry for the long period without updates.

    I have been working on a massive update for Christmas that will hopefully be on time. Unfortunately, problems with saving and Construct 3's free license is very restrictive, along with my focus on bhop moving along to schoolwork.

    Thank you for being so patient and sticking along for the ride for so long!

  • This is a glitch that will be fixed in the next version.

  • Updated the main game image and added five screenshots to bhop's description.

  • Version 18 released! Just some minor bug fixes to fix the minor bug fixes that did not fix bugs.

    Fixed Level 1's black pixels on the left side of the screen

    Adjusted player spawns to fix the spawning glitch. The Player sprite's origin wasn't set correctly so it caused it to warp into the ground when updated.

    Adjusted the UI to emphasise the new partitioned layout.

    *Actually* fixed the End Screen. Turns out I forgot to set the correct Event Sheet for the End Screen layout. Rookie mistake.

    As always, bhop has been "minified" by Uglify.JS to improve speeds and filesizes.

  • Version 17 released! Just some minor bug fixes this time.

    Fixed player glitching on the start of a new level.

    Fixed End Screen text and Menu button.

    Added small optimisations, mainly in the End Screen and Main Menu.

    Minified using Uglify.JS for speed boosts, since it worked well last time.

    Removed unused sprites. This may help with performance marginally but will decrease resource sizes.

    Made controller deadzone *actually* smaller this time.
