Also, not everyone have the flair for the developer part even if having working with it for years. I am visual learner so I need it to be visual for me to understand. Wall of text = me read it and it flows right across, not catching in brain... it could be my ADHD, but yeah.

    I agree with you.

I feel that manual is thin and assuming you know a lot programming logic.

Tutorials is very varied in quality.

What myself I feel is lacking: a user submitted, but also curated directory of examples you can download direct into Construct 2/3.

There are so many wonderful examples in the forums written by the community people but is lost in the forums . I had asked for "bookmarking threads" as in adding bookmarks from my own profile here but got reply it wasn't possible.

I am intermittent in my use, and sadly I tend to forget a lot between these "visits" so I have to re-learn, go the searching again. and those nifty things you saw? Of course I forgot.

Actually with C3 being cloud based it might be easier to do this directory of examples! We have some examples in the install folder of C2 yes, but We need more. <3

    ALSO including plugins examples.

Let's take Rexrainbow. He's such amazing guy writing many plugins that helps a lot. But it is poorly documented, that is, documented as if you already know the programming gist (plus language barrier). So it takes a while to learn what the actual plugin will work for and once you got "aha" it is amazing, and then there's many of them! If people did examples of his plugins and added them.. It would be nice.

    Just as example.

  • IMHO the base software should be one-off payment and then the exporters could be subscription. It would be win-win. But then they have to change their mind about native exporters and/or hire people to write working solid HTML exporters to various devices.

Sorry I just had to comment that the dolls on your Website look gorgeous.

The one on the upper right looks like it has a pull string like Woody from Toy Story?

Thank you very much, very sweet of you to say. Yes the bigger ones have pull string, where you pull and the eyes will change color and direction. 4 different sets of colors.

    Buy once.

  • Besides I thought it should be possible to be able to work on construct 3 for free (after subscription) and test it.. (without any kind of limits) But have to subscribe to actually make the exported version for upload.

  • Maybe if i could choose to pay one month here and there, it might work.

Any kind of "you only have xx uses left" or "you only have 1 month left" make me stressful, first I would never use software in fear of using time to only dabble and second I would feel stressful for not using software.

Also I made thinking about exporters etc. Well, to be honest we haven't seen anything new other than this sour egg of subscription model. I do not know anything about c3. but if it is basically browser wrapped C2 with a few new stuff, it will not be worth it (the subscription model).

    (in my humble opinion)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Me, I want to pay one-off, not subscribe. It might work for serious business with goal for released paid games. But for personal, people who might not actually release games due to shortages, people dabbling away, experiments, playing around... My problem = short of time and brains, so never released proper games before plus not paid either..

Plus I tend to not use C2 for months/half year due to stuff going on life, and then have a couple of intense weeks/months, and then... I worry if I have to subscribe for selective months, I would never start these months worrying about wasting money.

so.. Please add another one-off payment model.. or I will likely not go C3.

can'twait. oh, why, hello again. <3

  • This is why I have dual backup going on on C2 files. Dropbox (within the free quota) and iDrive backup.

It is not a waste of money, it has already saved me a number of times. Maybe not exactly with C2 files but overall.

I like how I can go to older revisions because sometimes I have idiot moments and save over or in other similar way destroy files. With some online backup services you can do that.

  • I love you Construct 2, Scirra team, the helpful members of this forum!
