  • Hello again.

(sticking to keys for now, I might change later on)

I want to be able to press one key to speed up the paddle movement (breakout style game) and once that key is released the paddle returns to its normal speed.

I have tried to do like this:

On Left key pressed --- Simulate 8 direction pressing left

subevent: Keyboard ctrl is down --- set 8 direction speed to 700

(I also wrote second event below to read the released key to restore to normal speed but I deleted it)

    It didn't work.

I have added another action to the ctrl key to verify so that the keys works and it does. So I must be doing something wrong with the 8 direction?

  • Interesting idea.

  • Beautiful demo!

I do not have the paid version (and thus not the latest version) because I just got into this a few days ago and I want to evaluate it first. But I think I am gonna buy, because I have put quite a lot of thought and work now. ;)

One of the reasons of me considering construct 2 is that the community seem to be helpful in a nice clear forum view.

Ok not very constructive reply but still. ;)

Oh hey, returned to look at the demo, not seeing the code, so I worry about the background since it is black or solid color or fixed graphic. The background in my project is a scrolling background. The "Liquid" itself can be solid but the test tube is transparent and the bottom of the tube is rounded.

  • c4sp3r89,

    Could you elaborate?

As the suggestion for the "container" for my idea of splitting the graphic into 1px thickness slices? I had the idea of putting it as animation, and choose frame number according to the (even) percent number.

Ok nevermind, of course it is better to have 100 frames with the ever growing meter, not 100 slices.

But still if there's a method to magically crop the picture, then shoot me with it! :)

  • Black graphic would work if the background is black, but I am doing this harder, the meter background is transparent because I am simulating a test tube, and the graphic background behind that is the level background that is not fixed.

    :)

  • Hello!

I looked up the tutorial "Making a Fancy lifebar". It looks quite well what I wanted.

    But not exactly.

It works so that you resize the graphic to fit the width of current "meter position". Common to do so.

But if let's say, I want to use a graphic as a whole, let's say 256 pixels height when 100%, but starting at 0%, which cropping the graphic to nothing, 1 procent = crop to 1x256 pixels... Cropping instead for resizing the graphic, if you understand what I mean?

I also thought of splitting the graphic into 1 pixel thickness slices but maybe it is too much work and there are simpler way?

Just thinking out loud here.... You are welcome to give me your ideas. :) <img src="smileys/smiley9.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Downloaded it, looked at it, considering price, bought pro!

  • Hello!

After having tested three different software I have decided for Construct 2, because of the fresh feeling of it. I know, silly, but also for the good website with in depth manual and tutorials formatted in an easy read format with appealing design. Some other software have the feel of staying in the 90's. ;)

Construct 2 is a little harder than MMF but I think it is because I have been fiddling with that format some years ago. But I want to learn Construct 2 so I am plowing the manuals. I even earned the badge for 50 pages. ;)

Oh sorry, my name is Helena as you can see, and I live in Sweden. By default I dabble in different kinds of crafts but I am probably most well known for designing fashion doll clothes.

  • Looked at some arts here and I have to say you are a talented bunch of people. Amazing artwork.

Sorry for the random post but had to say. :)

  • After a few clicks here and there, I found it! Thank you, it is the thicker left edge of the box. I would not have found it without your help. Thanks again.

  • I have now jumped between three different software and finally I settled for Construct 2, I think. I think it has a fresh feel (but capable) compared to some other software that feels like it is still in 90's. ;)

I am trying to learn how to use the event sheet, i think it is called! I am a little scatterbrained because of using different softwares, so I want to apologize in advance for wrong terms... oh well.

It is all click and choose, good.

But I wonder how do I rearrange the lines?

I try to click and drag up the line, but then it get "embedded" into another event. But not move the event itself, standalone. Trying to move to very top or bottom is not even possible.

    How do I do this?

    <img src="smileys/smiley18.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I hope you understand what I mean.. Let's say that I want to move the paragraph of a text to some other piece, I want it to still be a paragraph, and not merged into some other text block..

    ;)

    Thank you for reading.
