  • My tutorial for the new Advanced Random plugin is now live:

    https://www.construct.net/en/tutorials/getting-started-with-the-advanced-random-plugin-30

I'm looking forward to seeing some cool creations!

This is amazing Nepeo. This is great for procedural generation.

I never thought Construct would support this. First game I guess that users would try is minecraft map generation.

  • It is usually the events, layout, objects, memory usage or what's happening in the project, which is the culprit.

But anyway, exporters don't gain you performance. It's always the runtime. So, use the C3Runtime and improve your game design.

    Here are some optimization tips:

    construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/tips-and-guides/performance-tips

About the exporter, it really is just mainly about the convenience and customizations you want to implement.

It wouldn't improve performance unless you use a custom webview, which is what Cocoon.IO does but has its own drawbacks and limitations. I don't recommend this, especially when Cocoon.IO is declining and performance is becoming worse instead of becoming better because of lack of updates while the regular webview and packaging improves.

I recommend, if you are not using the Construct 3 Build Service. You can use Phonegap. Which is convenient to use with its tools.

    Link: freesoft.net

And no, it doesn't improve performance, that is up to the device webview, runtime and project design. Though, good, lightweight, updated packaging does improves a bit performance and responsiveness which is noticable.

And Phonegap is always up to date with this. And possibly the Construct 3 Build Service too.

If you learn or become an advanced user, you can use the Cordova CLI. But again, it doesn't improve performance. It works the same as Phonegap, it's just that you have more control.

The slight performance and responsiveness increase is up to the cordova packaging version but mostly on the project design and runtime.

I hope that shed some light on the subject.

    Cheers!

What happens if you decide to quit supporting these plugins?

I don't know what happens then, I would announce it beforehand, like a year before, if I can. That would be the responsible approach, in my opinion. But what happens after that, I don't know.

But I can assure you, that I still have plans for 2019 and the Web Master Collection is to be released at that year. And also I plan to create more games on that year too. So, you get the idea.

As long as I'm using Construct 3 and Construct 2, I'll keep supporting and innovating my plugin collection because, I use them too.

I hope that answers your question.

    Cheers!

This looks fantastic - I'd love to see some of the plugins (especially mobile) in more detail; do you have any videos or ACE tables?

I think it's impossible for me to make demos and screenshots like that, for now. The ACE lists are huge and the plugin count is a bit overwhelming with 50+ of them including the 6+ unreleased ones. :)

I'm focusing on making the Push Notifications, Local Notifications and support, right now. So, i don't think i have the time.

I want to focus on creating the plugins I have in my to-do list, for now. I hope you understand.

  • Guys, I have tried to ask too. But, it's kind of Brashmonkey is still too busy with Spriter 2.I don't blame them, it's just their schedule is overwhelming, no need to rush them. We should understand.

I would recommend using something else for now though, if you can. Because, we might be looking at something late 2019 for stable Spriter 2, not to mention the plugin runtime has to be rewritten, which may take longer, especially with early release bugs.

Performance-wise, using C3Runtime with frame-by-frame animations could be much more effective than using Spriter in C2Runtime. I tried in my tests and it's not so bad, if you do it right and know the ins and outs. Especially when memory might not be that much of an issue anymore.

My point is, what's the point of cool animations and animation editor if the performance is still of no quality. It's better to just use frame-by-frame animations if it will be faster anyway. Don't pressure Brashmonkey and just adapt for a while. They are already trying their best, as we can see.

It's better to adapt than waiting for a year to make a game or release a game. ;-) You won't even remember you need it.

    Cheers!

  • Vector Business

there isn't any alternative (and simpler method)?

    anyway Thanks for the answer

No. Because, re-scaling isn't something straightforward.

The only logical way to do that is to change the viewport and re-adjust the game accordingly.

Even if there was a re-scale button on the Construct 3 editor, it would just destroy the game.

Also, it's hard to pinpoint which to scale.

Coordinates, parallax, layers, images, collision polygon and sizes would adjust to a weird size.

    Hence, breaking the game.

It would be unpredictable to do it that way, changing the viewport size and adjusting manually for the new viewport size is the logical way to achieve this.

There is a tutorial on how to make a one screen design to adapt to other screen resolutions and aspect ratios. That's an example on how developers usually achieve multi-screen support.

    Link : construct.net/en/tutorials/supporting-multiple-screen-sizes-17

Although, this is for the runtime. And you need to have pre-made your game to support multiple device screen sizes in the first place. Like for Scale Outer and Scale Inner, which are common for mobile, uses the anchor behavior or events to scale to different screen sizes.

I hope that shed some light on the subject.

    No problem. You're welcome.

  • Vector Business

I am developing a game for android but it has the aspect radio of 4:3 (the dimension are 1024 x 768)... I want to know how I scale the resolution to 16:9 to play it on any android phone without problem..

You just change the viewport size. And you have to manually edit each layout, layer and in some cases, events too.
