I could go on and on but a good place to go for ideas is the Construct 2 templates/samples.

Also check out entries for game contests that were made in a limited time (Ludum Dare, etc).

  • BluePhaze no, I haven't tried Gamecircle yet

  • Ashley, I know this is an old thread but I agree with deadeye -- it would it great to get more keyboard shortcuts for the image editing within Construct 2. It would really help a lot and I could actually do pixel art within Construct 2 instead of importing everything.

Edit: oops, I didn't realize this was for Construct Classic, I'm actually recommending this for Construct 2

Nice! I wasn't aware of a few of these.

Might I suggest the following for the Picture Editor:

    F - Freestyle select

R - Cycle through Shape select (Rectangle, Polygon, Ellipse)

W - Toggle between Wand and Color select

B - Toggle between Brush and Pencil

    E - Eraser

    G - Toggle between Flood Fill (G is the same in Photoshop <!-- s:P --><img src="SMILIES_PATH/icon_razz.gif" border="0" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->) and Color Replacer

    L - Line

S - Cycle through Shape tools (Rectangle, Polygon, Ellipse)

    H - Hotspot

    I - Image Point

[ and ] - Scale brush size down/up (same as Photoshop)

Arrows - Nudge hotspot/Image point when those tools are selected

    - and + - Cycle through animation frames

Ctrl M, Ctrl F - Mirror and Flip

Ctrl R - Rotate by 90 degrees clockwise (for other degrees use menu)

Number Row (not numpad) - Set hardness to number*10 (for instance, 1 would set hardness to 10, 5 would set hardness to 50, 0 would set hardness to 100, etc.)

    Uh... I can't think of any more right now <!-- s:P --><img src="SMILIES_PATH/icon_razz.gif" border="0" alt=":P" title="Razz" /><!-- s:P -->

Also, one thing that's bugged me is the numpad shortcut for setting the hotspot moves the hotspot even when the hotspot tool isn't selected. I think that should be addressed. It should only move the hotspot when you have the hotspot tool selected so you can see where it's moving to.

  • This book seems actually really good (at least what ive read so far)

  • Looking really good! Makes me want to make my own click and point adventure

  • do they have any support for ad networks? that's one thing i like about cocoonjs.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • yeah hard to tell without the capx, but maybe you have a variable that needs to be reset (you may need to use action->reset all global variables when you reset the level?)

  • blackhornet great tool, thanks!

  • Thanks for playing guys. Yeah I want to take it further, hopefully someday I'll have a gallery where users can submit their work and see what other people have drawn.

  • what do you think Ashley has in mind in the latest Scirra blog post (https://www.scirra.com/blog/129/ideas-for-construct-2s-future under "Improved Android exporting")? Excited to hear what this is about.

  • I made this game to help people practice making minimalistic pixel art. Basically you have 60 seconds to create 15x15 pixel art based on a randomly selected word.

edit: link removed, may post later...

I also have some other Construct 2 games on that site you're welcome to check outrusspuppy2013-11-19 17:19:47

  • TonyW I haven't done this with Construct 2, but I was able to get it to work with my JavaScript app using this: coderwall.com/p/4qpmfw (check out the Github source). Seems like someone could make a Construct 2 plugin with this

  • RussBass I think is all possible just using javascript, see coderwall.com/p/4qpmfw and the Github source (anyone want to make a plugin <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />? )

  • looks great, have you considered porting to mobile?

  • Thndr thank you for that link! I'll have to try these steps to see if I can port some of my games.
