  • Tobye Thanks. I really appreciate that. Would you be OK if I wrote a tutorial on this? Of course I would credit you.

I wrote one tutorial and I just seem to learn better that way <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • orangemicro, hey thanks for this link www.scirra.com/forum/topic45416.html

    much appreciated

  • Ashley Tom

I was wondering the same thing actually. Have you guys ever considered having a Contest where the winners will get free art provided by Scirra,

( as art seems to be the weakest link in a lot of these games )

and then have the game featured / displayed on the site,

and give the winners receive bonus rep points,

and a special badge on their Gravatar?

IMHO, the games don't even have to be that original, in fact they could be almost exact duplicates of existing games out there on Yepi or wherever ... the key is having high quality art

and its all about showing off C2 and what it can do.

    Just a thought....

maybe you should consider posting a more detailed description of what is required and you may be more favorable response.

    Just a thought.

  • Tobye

I have families and would love to see that... please

  • zenox98 I see your point but I think you may be over estimating the bandwidth needed to support these files. The bandwidth needed would be very tiny compared to, say, The Arcade.

I just think having working links ( even if it's an old tut ) are important to maintain, as there are always new learners signing up and its the new learners who will be purchasing the software, if they can figure it out ( via tuts)

    Just a thought.

  • If I may suggest, break your project into bite sized pieces that can be completed in a week or two. Too many projects, even small ones, go by the way side as other things come up and interests shift. The developer and you too I imagine need to see progress.

Also, what's in it for the developer? If you really want to complete this project, maybe you had better set a budget and pay something. Just a thought.

  • Members and Ashley,

On the subject of tutorials (tut)

    Idea 1

Scoring a Tut:   Have a 5 star rating (or something similar).

Currently we can 'favorite' the tut but there is no way to weed out the bad ones.

Unfortunately, there are just so many bad tuts on the site, I think if the members could score the tut, and maybe when searching tuts we could 'check' a box to search only 4 and 5 star tuts for example. ( And if a tut gets too many 1 star rating it could be deleted )

    Idea 2

As a new learner I am going thru many of the old tuts only to find that the sample link to view the game or to demonstrate the 'play' doesn't work. They usually go to a personal dropbox which only has a limited amount of bandwidth, or the person deletes it from their dropbox. I think a better way is have the person use a Scirra provided link.

What do you, Ashley and the members, think?

  • Ashley, if there is a possibility of losing money,

    then

let it be a private transaction between the tut creator and the donator.

But if bitcoin is better for you .. go that route ..

I just think the quality and quantity of of tuts would go way up if there was a possibility of making a 'bit' (pun) of money.

    Thanks for considering.

  • Ashley and team:

I could not find this topic when I searched for it, so I hope this isn't redundant.

I have been looking at and learning a lot from the tutorials as a new learner of C2.

I know it takes a lot of time ( days sometimes) to make a decent tutorial and there are times I would like to make a small donation ( even a buck or 2) to the tutorial creator.

I was wondering if you have considered making a 'Donate button' on the tutorial page?

I think it could serve many good purposes.

    1. It gives people a way to thank the good tutorial makers.

    2. It provides an incentive to write tutorials, ( maybe they will make a few extra quid)

    3. The better tutorials would likely get more donations, so tutorial makers are more motivated to make the best tutorial possible and more of them.

    4. It could be administered thru Scirra, and Scirra could retain a 10% fee.

Noone is going to become a millionaire writing good tuts, but a few extra ? would be nice.

    Just a thought?

    What do the members think?

    Thumbs up? Thumbs down?

  • I could not find your games in the App Store on my iPhone.

    Is this a real game?

Funny that you claim this game is on Android, Win8, and iPhone

but it isn't on your site as an HTML5 game.

You are trying to sell capx files with no examples of the game ...

    that I can find.

Put the game on your site, so we can see what we would be buying.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Construct 2 can easily do that game.

I have recently started using C2 and I am finding it quite powerful and that it can handle doing most things quite well.

  • I like them, nice .

Have you tried the Spriter tool?

I think it is great and it is the future of 2D game art.
