  • WackyToaster, first I took what I learned from you and then I combined it with what I learned from bigcatrik and then I blended it with sprinkles of what I have learned from several games I've made and MacGyvered them all together.

It's what I do. I create 20 to 30 little demo type things to work out what I want and how they'll all work together and then I build the game. It takes longer, but I learn a lot.

This is my 'working out the jumping' demo:

PS please don't mind the sprites. They're just stuff I take off my hard drive.

The player needs to jump on boxes that are moving up and down and then should automatically bounce off in whatever direction the player is pointing. If the player misses, the game will start over.

At the moment, the jump itself needs work, haven't figured out how to get it to bounce off the box yet, but worse, when the player jumps on the block, the player sprite first goes through the box and then comes up so it's on the box.

Anyone know how to get the player to land on the block without going through it?

    Thanks.

YES!! That's exactly what I've been trying to do and your code is so simple. I actually understand it.

    Thank you sooooo much!

Safari has been an issue since I started using 3D, but I thought the issue was resolved an update or 2 agao - guess I was dreaming (lol).

My daughter did a few more tests tonight using a couple of my games.

On her iPhone she had to refresh each time to get the games to work in safari, but they worked in the Chrome app without an issue.

The problem seems to be with the iPhones using safari to open html games. It's more than just my daughter's phone though. Whenever I ask someone to test one of my html games that I made in C3, using their iPhone, they have a problem playing the game using the safari browser app in their phone.

My games are here: keeperbay.com if you want to test them yourself.

The Worder game leads to another site, but all the other games on that site will open without taking you somewhere else. Several games are A/R and the rest are just typical games, but they are all made with C3.

  • brainwavecreations,

    Thank you for your reply.

I've seen FoozleCC on youtube. I've watched his stuff, but he prattles on and on forever and when he finally gets around to the 3D camera, he only explains bits and pieces, nothing detailed, he skips all the stuff that I'm looking to learn. (Honestly, I wish I could find a way to block him from results.)

I can't find anything for mobile games specifically. Videos that just get down to it with some step by step examples or demos I can pick apart - I really need to find some demos so I can look and learn.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any 3D 1080 x 1920 portrait examples on the C3 demo page. If I could find 1 or 2 good examples I know I could get a handle on it.

    Thanks for trying.

This may be too simple, but Open the Project Bar.

You have the option of Opening and Closing it at will. So open it, use it and then close it if you don't like it.

I've read the guides, C3 manual, watched every video on YouTube that I can find, I've looked at all the demos available, but I cannot get a handle on setting up the 3D camera the way I want it.

Most of my games need the same set up 1080 x 1920 portrait - I'm looking to set it up so it looks like the beginning of Stumble Guy‪s, but in portrait and just follows the player at that angle and at that height though the game, but doesn't turn, just follows the player sprite at the same distance.

Is there a demo anywhere that shows how to setup the 3D camera for 1080 x 1920 portrait? Something that will give me a solid start to learn how to set it up myself?

Something that gives an example like the image below.

    Thanks.

  • Ashley,

    It's not C3, it's Chrome.

I have the same issues with C3 in Chrome on 2 Windows laptops and a Chromebook.

(I even have issues with Google products in the Chrome browser)

The problems I have in C3 with Chrome are:

When I go to the editor's template/demo page, some of the demos don't show up.

Also, when I open an HTML game that I've made with C3 sometimes game features don't work, usually newly added features don't work, but sometimes even features that had been working are an issue.

Typically clearing the cache will clear up the issue, but sometimes clearing the cache and a reboot is required. I disabled all the browser extensions and even removed them at one point, with no change.

And again, when I'm having these issues, everything works just ducky in Firefox and Opera. And it's not only C3. I have similar issues with websites that I've built. I think I'll be moving back to Firefox while Chrome figures out its issues.

    You're welcome.

I have a similar game demo that you can download: howtoconstructdemos.com/avoid-the-darts

  • pandabear7413,

    Yup, it makes sense.

    Here's the thing, the people who build C3 aren't nearly as OCD as those of us who use it (;

There isn't a way to set the column spacing in the way you're describing it, sorry. I don't think they'll change it because many times we need different column spacing on different event sheets.

But if it helps, you're not alone. I am constantly changing my column spacing .... and don't get me going on the "tabs". In this forum somewhere there is a thread all about how the "Tabs" work. Some of us are very particular about our workspace setup. lol

  • I've never used them, but I'm always interested in moving away from googles ads.

How are you implementing them in your game?

  • Chrome is becoming a pain in the arse!

Some of the C3 demos on the editor's demo page, don't show up. Other show up, but won't load, but only in Chrome. They show up in FireFox just fine. There is a terrible lag from time to time, but only in the chrome browser.

Chrome holds a lot in cache, sometimes if I clear the cache everything clears up, but then of course, I need to login to everything again.

However, FF loads and runs sooo slow, I can't take it. So I keep using Chrome.

I know that doesn't help, but at least you know you're not alone.

  • I can't remember the names of the ads that do work in a browser (html), but:

    1. Banner ads Don't work.

    2. The site (URL) must be approved by Google. Meaning you can be approved to use admob ads in apps, but if your website (URL) is not approved to use the ads, they won't show up on a website.

    Hope that helps.

Do you mean the actual event sheet where you write the code?

Or do you mean how do you make all columns in your game the same size using different event sheets?
