  • Thanks & spongehammer! Every time I think of something vaguely original I then find out it's been used before; even Penumbra (which was my first name idea way back). I Think I am inclined to keep Umbra and add a sub-title. Thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate the support.

    Umbra: Who stole my eyes

Hilarious! Love it. Umbra: frequent death...

    I'm thinking of something like:

    Umbra: Shadow of Death....

I might try some title graphics to inspire me....

  • As already posted earlier, there's another game out there with the same name as this one... The other Umbra isn't anything like my game, but the name conflict is giving me some heartache - unfortunately there's no such thing as a monopoly on old Latin words!

What should I do? I'm tempted to change the name to something similar - another Latin or Spanish word meaning dark and eerie, perhaps? There are plenty to choose from. Or should I close my eyes and hope it's ok to leave it the way it is? Any suggestions welcome... Thanks.

  • Hello! Here's a little something to prove that I've not been sitting idly by staring at Facebook or waiting for an exciting c2 update. Ok, I may have been doing a little of the above, but I have also been doing a little bit of work on level 6. I've decided that this will be the last level (otherwise I'll never finish) - it'll contain one large puzzle and then (hopefully, 'cos the work's not done) a huge boss fight. Perhaps with guns and some other crazy stuff.

  • spongehammer, similar for me - I rarely get to see my sprite fonts in the editor unless I just happen onto the magic zoom for the view position (or turn effects off). I could well be wrong, but I wonder if this problem is somehow related to this bug?

  • Just to add, for anyone who cannot see this, this is what is happening (all of the layers have parallax in editor set to off):

  • I also see something unusual. It seems to be something to do with, or at least exacerbated by, the Parallax in Editor option for the UI layer. There's no weird jumping around of the objects in that layer when its Parallax in Editor is set to ON.

  • Over the last 2 years or so I've experienced this on 3 laptops and one desktop... If it's a driver problem then it appears to be endemic across a broad selection of hardware.

  • A pity. I do hope that they did market research of their users, or they could end up where they were before: with almost no one paying for their services. But this time with no free user base advertising their product with a splash...

  • I presume that you're running from Dropbox or similar - ie not running in local preview or running the exported project directly off the c drive?

Then the only other fix I can think of is try forcing the browser cache to refresh. If that doesn't work (Ctrl F5 or shift F5 usually) then try deleting the browser cache - that will force the browser to have to download all of the files again. That should fix it.

  • This is simply awesome!

  • Construct 2/exporters/html5/favicon.ico is where you need to look. This icon is only used during preview - not sure why you'd care to change it.

The icon files in the project are used to create the icon shown in the browser tab only when you run an exported project. I guess you're not running an exported project...

  • Because the platform behaviour does not play nicely with other behaviours (other than solid, of course). There's a push-out-from-solid plugin that you might find helps here (just search the add-ons forum).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • There's a favicon.ico file in the exporters/html5 folder; this seems to be the one that is used when in preview. As MadSpy said, for nw.js you need resource hacker (to change from the nw.js icon). For html5 export, changing the icon-xxx.png files in the project will change the icon shown in the browser tab.

  • , I've also has the suspicion that NW will be the new editor framework. It works for Intel XDK (I think).... What's glaringly missing from that 8 month old blog are things like animation preview in the layout window (including particles) and full box2d access. As c3 appears to be just an editor update, permitting people who can code to add extensions to the editor etc, I'm concerned that we'll still be waiting for hardware to catch up before html5 will be a better prospect outside of web browsers. It'll have to offer something really juicy to entice people to update. No news is no news!
