Chadori's Forum Posts

Well 7 page of this topic named "Construct 3 any news?", "What we do is discuss and compare engines because that is what this topic is about" is actually off topic.

People asked infos about C3, infos were released.

Why compare with other engines ?...

This topic name is different but I think this topic is a great opportunity for Scirra to learn from other competitive Game Making Engines since Construct 3 is still under production. By looking at how this conversation is going to, I say that the purpose of this topic is to encourage Construct 3 to be made better than the other engines.

Btw. When you look at Spark, we can already tell that it will not go well at start. Surely, there will be a lot of bugs in the interface, browser editor and especially mobile editor and the game compiler. Think about it, Construct Classic + Construct 2 ran for 8 years and still have no compiler and still has some unexplained bugs. What more for an early and very sophisticated game engine? Not to mention a native compiler made by a small team that even the large company Intel is still having trouble making a html compiler that will solve the game developers needs, wants and demands. Once the game engine is released, then you'll see the bug reports.

  • The feeling you get when you noticed that the deadline for the Rikoshe Mobile Jam is March 31 and it is right next to April 1. I get this feeling that Rikoshe might tell us today (April 1) !!APRIL FOOLS DAY!!. that the entire competition is a joke. Lol XD

I did not mean any disrespect Elliott . I just taught that it would be funny and sad at the same time if Rikoshe did that.

  • Am I the only one who noticed that anyone can cheat just by using "Incognito" on chrome...?.?

I can spam it anytime I want but that is not fair.

I am not comparing Spark with Construct 2 negatively but I really think Spark is a dream Game Making Software. With it's event system for 2D and 3D will be it's strongest chess piece into winning the game developers. Not to mention it's native export that is not dependent to any 3rd party Wrappers. A nice forum just like Scirra and fun interface too. The downfall I only see is that the program is new and may contain many bugs, few items in it's asset store, may contain very limited features since it's new, a coding option that will be a sign that the event sheet cannot do everything the code editor can do, so everyone who uses Spark must learn how to code "Haxe" so you won't be left out of other advanced features.

    Edit:

I read that the Spark Game Engine editor works on mobile, browsers and etc. and you can also make behaviors through the event system and very automated since you can right click on a sprite and add any behavior. That is very amazing if you think about it except, I think the browser part should be optional. Since the exporter they use is their own then this might just be the answer to all mobile export problems since they can just fix it when they find any bugs, that is if they aren't false advertising. If Construct 3 will have their own native exporter then it will be the end of headaches. <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_wink.gif" alt=";-)" title="Wink">

  • MadSpy - Amazing. I did not know that someone made this. Now Steam Game Making will be a lot better for Construct2. Nice work, you will help many game dev here with that plugin.

  • - The highest possibility is that the image you used in your game is higher than the supported resolution of your phone. You should always limit the size of the images of your game.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • FrankField - Yes there are scheduled promos that I seem to see that never misses. For Example Holidays. I am very sure that there will be a promo on Christmas since Scirra doesn't miss out on christmas holiday promos but that is very far off.

But there are also other big holidays that Scirra might offer one but it is unsure. It depends on Scirra if they want to make the promo like this Easter, there were no promos made by Scirra but unexpected events might give them the decision to make a promo this year. For Example a new game jam.

Just keep checking on Scirra Store.

  • Done Voting... Construct 2 is way ahead so there should be no worries.

    - public information about the state of C3 could affect our competitive edge, especially since we're doing some pretty interesting stuff

    - we don't want to ruin the surprise!

That's what I like in techs. The innovations and surprises. I really also think that C3 shouldn't be rushed or any way give out information yet about the new features even if I want to. C2 is still usable and non-obsolete so we can still hold the fort till it's done. Besides it's better to enjoy the license we paid for a little longer .

  • Construct 2 is different from the others as the others are different from each other but they do have similar educational features. BTW, I can't vote, or I do not see any options but just a tag "Vote now" and a picture of C2. Been trying this days ago.

Edit: I clicked on the C2 picture. I believe that it already counted my vote but there is no alert or anything.

  • ryand444 - I believe it's more of a plugin issue than a construct 2 issue. You should post this screenshot to the plugin developer.

  • Thanks for sharing. How about the compiler, was it Visual Studio?

TheRealDannyyy - Now that I read this. I seem to agree that if Scirra doesn't improve then it will be outmatched by Godot. Honestly, the only thing that makes me hesitate in moving to Godot is because of the requirement of knowledge in scripting. But if it is true that Godot will make an easy event based system better than construct 2/3 and a compiler that doesn't make me crazy, then I do not see any reason to move. In my observation Godot seems to be like construct classic when it's easy event system and freeware was still a trend. Scirra is fun and all but we always need to look to something better. Besides Godot is a one click deployment and native, and that seems to solve almost all our problems in C2. Nice sharing TheRealDannyyy

  • I don't know if sharing this information is legal. But if it is and the Scirra Team is okay with it, I would like to know what Programming Languages and Compiler is used to make Construct 2. This is for my small class research and I would like to use Construct 2 in my research since I am more familiar with it. So do I have the honor to know ?
