  • Greetings Construct community,

Is there a way to align objects in the editor so I don't have to move each object to be pixel perfect?

  • Wow, I forgot to try changing the opacity through events. I was using the built-in Fade behavior. I'll see if I can make it work through changing the opacity.

  • Hey Construct community,

I'm trying to get my HUD to fade away after it has not been in use for 10 seconds, as seen in Skyrim (it disappears if health is full and not in combat). I've tried using instance timers and global timers to no avail, and I'm stumped. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

  • Great plugin, but I've encountered a bug:

In a top down shooter game (like the example Ghost Shooter), the player can still rotate in place and spawn bullets that then move when un-paused.

  • What program(s) do you use to take screenshots and make videos of your games made with Construct 2?

  • Thanks for the info.

Is OUYA included in the Android export? I was reading other forum posts about OUYA and it seemed people were having trouble with it.

  • Are there any plans to export C2 projects to the PlayStation Vita?

Also, I was reading a blog post about the new Wii U export option and I read that there are something like 15 export options right now. What are the 15?

  • Thanks for the insight, Wertle.

I think I'm most comfortable with option 3. I feel I can easily be scammed using the other options because if I pay the artist hourly, they could intentionally work slower to extend their employment. Also, I don't think I could really trust a contract artist I have never worked with before. I have been looking into the methods of buying assets in "bulk", as that sounds the safest route. Finish the assets, get paid. Simple and easy.

If I were to pay in bulk, how would I build trust with the artist? Pay half then and pay the rest when the assets are complete? Or do artists usually start work on a project without much insurance?

  • I plan on hiring an artist to create all the sprites for my game once it's complete, and I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has had experience working with contracted artists.

Did you pay for all the sprites in bulk? Or per hour? How much did you pay?

Listing pros and cons would be great, thanks!

  • Hey Construct Community,

I got into the closed beta for Project Spark yesterday and I shelled out money to buy Windows 8.1 and run it. While Project Spark is neat, it really made me appreciate how powerful Construct 2 actually is. I, probably like other C2 users, take many of C2's features for granted. Project Spark has a very clumsy and unintuitive visual coding interface, for starters. You can only view 5 events on one page at a time, which seriously disrupts the work flow. Creating basic mechanics like inventories and maps can only be done by "cheating the system", and taking the player to a different instance of the map to show them items on a table, which is strange because one of the distinguishing points of PS is the ability to create RPGs easily. Overall, I can only really see using Project Spark for creating a 3rd person platformer or a very light RPG along the lines of the Fable series. Construct 2, however, allows me to create any 2D game I can imagine, and export it to almost every popular device and potentially make a profit. Project Spark is fun to use and quickly make a simple game (it is the best 3D tool for prototyping), but Construct 2 is still the best software to use for creating deep, well designed games with ease.

tl;dr Construct 2 beats Project Spark in almost every way.

If you have any questions about Project Spark, or how it compares to a feature in Construct 2, I will try my best to answer!

    Thanks for reading!

  • Wii U export??? I most definitely missed that bit of news! That is awesome!!!

  • Hey Construct Community,

Was looking through the forums and read that support for Steam was achieved late last year: github.com/greenheartgames/greenworks

I was wondering if there have been any Construct 2 games released on Steam or uploaded to Greenlight.

I believe there was a physics based puzzle game made with Construct 2 released on Steam last year (blanking on the name) where you play as this green spider thing as you coordinate all its limbs.

Does anyone have experience integrating Steam functionality into their games? Is it complicated?

    Thanks!

  • Very valuable insight.

I often write down my to-do lists, but writing them in comments will save me a lot of paper.

  • Works great, thank you very much!
