  • Steam is great when it works but sadly these problems do surface every now and again. If Steam want to be taken seriously they need some kind of returns policy. Doesn't matter whether you buy something digitally or as a physical copy, you should have a right to return it if it doesn't work as intended. Their one-to-one customer support is a joke.

  • It would be good to know a bit more information such as resolution requirements and what control methods to use

  • There is definitely something wrong with the way Construct 2 launches on Steam. I have tried it many times and it fails to launch or crashes during use.

  • I've also been having problems getting it to work consistently on Steam. It will either fail to launch or will crash (on windows 7).

  • Apparently it doesn't work anymore. It's very irritating as I cannot use dropbox and there aren't many alternative solutions.

  • Just tried the stable release on Steam today and it works fine now.

    Thank you for the help!

  • That's something I don't really understand. If something is missing, then why is the user not prompted to download something?

In my case it either crashes or doesn't launch at all. In some software it automatically does that installation as part of the first launch process.

It's also strange how the free version works fine stand-alone but this one doesn't. I thought they were fundamentally the exact same program.

  • Update: Reinstalling Scirra on Steam after selecting the "beta release" option appears to solve the problem and now I can run it as normal.

Update 2: Now it seems broken again and keeps crashing.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Purchase Construct 2 on Steam

    2. Launch Construct 2

    Observed result:

    Construct 2 does not launch

    Expected result:

Construct 2 should launch as normal

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit

    Construct 2 version:

  • Yep it's on sale. Definitely worth it

  • Agreed with everyone above. Without any way to make money developers will get bored and move onto something else. Our games need some way of generating ad revenue, like the way Kongregate works.

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Export project to Scirra Arcade using Construct 2 r134

    2. Submit zip file of game

    Observed result:

Error generated "Zip file is missing a required file"

    Expected result:

Game is not submitted to the arcade

    Browsers affected:

    Chrome: yes

    Operating system & service pack:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit

    Construct 2 version:

    r134 Beta Release

As stated above, there is nothing I can do that will allow games to be submitted to the Scirra Arcade. Even a simple exported project that just has a static image will not work as it should.

My guess would be that there is something wrong with r134's export process, if Scirra Arcade cannot recognize the zip files created by Construct 2.

Please let me know if you find any solutions to this problem. Thank you.

  • I've just updated to r134 and tried to export the project I was working on but the "Minify" option appears to be permanently grayed out, even if I install/reinstall Java. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

  • Here's my Ludum Dare release:

Sadly r127 seems to have a weird export bug so I can't upload a web playable version on the arcade :( Doesn't help that my laptop got a nasty virus on it too.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Yep I'm getting the same issue. Wasn't sure whether physics was the issue

  • Yeah I was also suffering from the same problem, but my Scirra uploaded game won't work either... weird.
