  • Hi. I published a game to the Scirra Arcade.

If you could test it and give me some constructive criticism I would be most grateful.

    scirra.com/arcade/puzzle/54/block-mover-2

PS Let me know how it works on iPhone/iPad/Android phones, I haven't been able to test this yet.

  • Ah okay. Thank you.

I can understand everyone's concerns about money, after all, it attracts many developers purely for that reason alone. I published several games on Kongregate but I haven't made a massive amount of money.

I definitely agree that going straight into a game and thinking about making money straight away isn't a good strategy. On the other hand, you never know whether a game you make will be the next Angry Birds or Game Dev Story. Just working on my portfolio and getting experience using other engines is a good starting point, regardless of wealth.

  • Hi.

Just one suggestion I thought of.

If you had an event condition which was either one of the following:

If all of the X objects are destroyed...

    or

If the number of X objects = 0...

Perhaps the second one would be more useful as you could utilise it in different ways.

Example: Say you have a wave based game and you destroy all the monsters, it would register as a satisfied condition and cause the next wave to spawn.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Also the Up and Down arrow keys seem to do the same thing. Thank you.

  • I'm using the Opera web browser, so that might be the issue. But whenever I hold the space bar, it scrolls away from the game which is very distracting.

Not quite sure if the issue is specific to the games or my browser but it has happened to several games that I played.

Would using a different browser fix the issue?

  • I tried to submit the wrong zip file. Turns out I was trying to submit the html version by mistake. Thank you for the advice.

  • No third party plugins, no web save or facebook support. The file is also under 10mb.

  • I uploaded the zip file to the arcade as directed and I got this error:

"Zip contains file extensions not on the whitelist"

I can understand that, but this is a file I exported directly from Construct 2! It contains the following: OGGs, PNGs, XML, JS.

    1) Why would the Construct 2 program generate files which aren't accepted on to the Arcade?

    2) Why isn't there a clear list of what files aren't on the whitelist?

    3) How do I know which files I can remove from the zip and not stop the game from working?

Now I can understand the security standpoint of banning various files which are unsafe... but these are created within the program itself!

    Please help.
