  • More info, ok So when you say 2 Sprites, I assume you mean 2 different object types, not 2 instances of 1 object type (Sprite) otherwise it would be no more difficult than 1. You will have to put it them in a Family then you can pick Family by unique ID.

edit: I'm ignoring that your topic title says that you want to get 'spritename' because that's not what you've asked in your questions.

  • Awesome, I had the same issue and hadn't spotted that in the manual, thanks

Read under Unique IDs (UIDs). Pick by unique ID

  • Hence the groups: If event in group "X" has fired

Sorry I tend to take intuitive leaps but more often than not fall off a cliff

  • Being in a group does make a difference - if it's just a single event then tripping a global variable is a piece of cake, if there's tens of them and you'd like some to trigger it and others not it's quite laborous changing the vars every time.

From your use case yes, but I meant if there's a way of knowing any event has fired, then it will also work for events in groups. Anyway sounds like a handy feature, but how would you reference the event?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Stick with auto. In that case, as long as you still use the same app ID, you should be fine. I have deleted my C2 export folder before (with XDK project files in it) and created a new XDK project with the same info, and it was fine.

edit: to use manual, un-check the 'Signed' box, but only if you want more work (and you'll have to ask Intel for the keystore)

  • I don't think being in a group makes any difference to the question? AFAIK there's no built in trick to knowing if an event is executed, but that would be some handy meta-info to be able to grab when needed

  • So you were manually signing, or auto?

  • Hi welcome to Construct 2. Yes of course, IMO it's very suited to that style of game. I have done a bit in that area but there are others who will have much more experience. But overall I don't think the advice will be much different from most other styles. A heavy, fast action/effect type game is another matter.

  • When you make a new build, you need to do it from the same XDK project folder otherwise you'll get another key automatically and you need to keep using the same key.

  • I think the users are gonna chose the language the very first time. I think it would be very unusual that they want to change the language, but anyway let's focus on the gameplay!

Indeed. However someone testing my app hit the wrong language by accident and there was no simple way for him to re-select it

  • Yes you do.. that's what I meant by [quote:38xwb4lu]the name is up to you (increase at least one of the numbers)
