  • Thank you Sargas,

I will give that a try in a little while because the Windows machine is rendering something.

  • Hey,

To improve my app, I would like to create 12 containers, inside each container a sprite representing one piano key.

How do make the key (sprite) move with the container?

What I have tried but didn't work is:

I've created a sprite, filled it with a grey color and named it to con1

Created a second sprite, adjusted the dimensions and filled it with red color.

Turned the first sprite into a container and picked the second sprite from the popup window.

Then I've attached a drag & drop behavior to the container.

Running this example lets me move the container but the sprite inside the container does not move along.

    What am I missing?

  • I just came back from the mall where I spent some time in the computer store.

In the past, I used to hang out there a lot but the last few years where mostly work work work ....

So I was blown away that there are so manny models available which use touch screens and overall support HTML5 apps well (even Microsoft).

It looks as if I am at the right place at the right time.

Now it's back to work work work LOL

My piano needs serious work but that's the fun part.

  • thanks rekjl,

it's good to learn more about q2 and yes, i should be fine with a standard license, for a while at least.

The HTML5 performance on an iPhone 5 is great but my new Galaxy Note3 worries me. I even use Chrome as recommended and still a lot of lag.

Again, thank you for you input,

  • Hello,

I took a few days to try out C2 and like what I see.

Before I buy a license, I'd like to know:

Right now, my iPad (first generation) can not play my "game" which is actually a piano with 11 keys.

There is about one to two seconds of lag between key press and sound.

Question: Would I be able to export my piano game to a native format which my iPad then could install, ether from iTunes (I do have an Apple developer account and 10 apps in iTunes which were made with GS)?

Are there any issues with exporting the game to the advertised formats?

I think that I would want an installable Windows, Mac desktop version and iPad, iPhone as well as Android.

Kindle Fire and what other platforms make sense are all important to me.

    Last question.

The license price list states that if someone uses C2 commercially and makes more than 5 grand, that the business edition is required.

My website, LittleComposers.com (just google "little composers" is not yet a registered business (but will be one day) and I do not charge for accessing the site in any way as memberships are free.

Is it OK to buy the $119 US license?

Thanks guys. This forum has been a great help and I have learned a lot in just a few days.

  • Thanks guys!

I was searching for how to best implement a snap feature and this post helped me to understand a lot more about how to do this with c2.

    Cheers,

AMAZING! I had to update just to open your file but by the looks of it, this is VERY helpful to me.

I am very grateful that you have provided that file.

This is much more than I ever expected and I will learn a lot from it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • blackhornet,

THAT is seriously cool. I was just playing a couple of MIDI files .... very impressive.

All in all, I am starting to get used to C2 and how things work. It will still take a few more days but I think that I will switch to C2 because it works for me.

I might bug you down the road when ....

    Ciao for now,

  • I've made my first piano and now I am trying to optimize and tweak the project.

Here is what I'd love to know:

My piano keys are sprites and feature two colors.

Is there a way to just make one key with the right fill pattern and then reuse that key many times?

Please keep in mind that I need to attach a different sound to each key.

Also, do I need to create two events per key?

On touched to advance the animation to frame 1 and to trigger the sound

On any touch end to return to frame zero.

Last question. How can I have smaller black keys (on their separate layer) on top of white keys without triggering the sound of the white key?

If I can get/find information on the above points then my piano would be good enough for testing.

Thank you and you and W,

  • thomas0611,

music is my profession and my advise to you is this ....

Put as much work as you can into the visuals! If you have a stunning looking game, you should be able to attract a gifted musician who can create "the right sound track" for your game.

If you can show something special, someone out there will take some time and make you something worth while. Many musicians are in the same boat as you are. They are studying audio engineering and can't find projects to work on.

If you live in a big city, I'd suggest posting on craigslist or the university campus bulletin board.

Especially if you have a website up and running which provides all the information someone needs in order to decide to help you ... or not.

Take your time, look around. There are so many musicians out there and some of them have a home recording studio but no one to record.

Be creative and go with someone who will lift your project up a couple notches.

  • WOW!

Great find. I was looking for this feature too. Snapping a dropped object help is hard to come by.

    Thanks, - V

  • Hello,

I just downloaded C2 a few days ago to see if I could use it to replace my flash driven virtual instruments.

Last night, I've started on a HTML5 Piano and now I am happy to say that it works well on the desktop.

Firefox has a little bit of lag but it disappears once each key has been played once.

Chrome = 100% (VERY happy with the result).

On my iPad (first generation) it does not play well because of 2 seconds delay.

On my Samsung Note 3 it plays better but the lag is noticeable.

I assume that if I compile that into a real app (export), that will change? Will see.

This is exciting and I am very optimistic that before too long, I will be able to offer Flash as an alternative.

I don't think that I have enough points to post a link or image but once I do, I will invite you guys to test a little more.

    Ciao for now,

    V

P.S. iPhone 5 works well but the two last keys (to the right) don't make a sound? Weird.
