  • paprik123456 There a lot of 2D games that we couldn't see nice detail of shadow, more like users can appreciate aesthetic but it's not important, It's up to your game design, you could create sprites as shadow.

I recommend you to take this tutorial, it explains everything about shadow.

    Thanks a lot!

  • In that case if his unprofessional opinion doesn't help you to understand.

There an exampleIt's possible that you are looking it

Thanks Joannesalfa, I would prefer to see some game, which use shadow caster on walking sprite in Construct 2. This effect creates very nice detail.

and then some description how to do that.

"btw: his unprofessional answer is ignored."

  • Guys,

    0. how can I make raycasting shadows for my character in side view?

I have side view 2D characters and environments, not a top view, so it needs to be flatted on base of the floor shape/perspective.

    1. Is it possible to make soft and hard shadows?

    2. Does the light also change color?

    3. Is it possible to exclude sprite from the light?

Here is tech example what I am looking for (top view):

    youtube.com/watch?v=LuJRYes0KcU

Here is another example of raycasting shadows and color changes (no construct):

    youtube.com/watch?v=_1uqx8ByliI

This is the goal I would like to reach (shadow change in angle of the sprite):

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Miu3> I could use C2 ,but I have 3D characters with lots of animations. There would be so much sprite sheets to create lots of animated variations to get smooth motion. Will see.

  • Visionaire Studio looks very promising, even the price 35 euros if you sell the game under 15euros sounds cool. It says it doesn't require super programming skills, which doesn't sounds bad, but later on I will need coder anyway. Version 4 is beta, but I will watch some tutorials to see how complicated it is.

  • so, as I read through those replies, .. If I use Construct 2 for my complex point&click adventure game, I am going to have hard time to get it work on other platforms, it requires additional scripts/codes/plugins...etc :/

My game has 2048>6144 scrolling images with layers and if it would have issues with memory or lacking speed... I should be aware of it. By saying that, I just dont wanna learn something, which needs much bigger coding knowledge, because I am not a programmer.

  • OlivierC: Nice work on that! Maybe you can share some development with me, and I can try to implement it for my game. PM, doesnt work again, so skype or email.

  • Lof: you have to send me a email... PM doesnt work

  • Thanks bjadams, they locked my PM till I have 500 something... so you can contact me on skype patrik3dspacek

email cannot be post as well... uh, so limited here :/

    thanks

  • Thank you guys a lot for your help! I am appreciated...

I will definitely try Wintermute engine, because its free and made for adventure games with 3D characters.

BTW, if somebody would like to join me to make a demo version of my adventure game, you are more than welcome

    because I am artist.

  • Hi Guys, I am new on this forum and I have never used Construct 2 yet and before it happens I would like to know a few things:

    • Did anybody use Construct 2 for complex adventure game? Something like point&click adventures?
    • Does Construct 2 support most of the platforms? PC, Mac, Ios, Xbox, PS, Android, W8 tablets etc.
    • Is it possible to create such a things like: Layers, parallax, perspective scaling, text with audio dialogs, complex story telling, lots of puzzles etc
    • Does Construct 2 has some nice looking shaders like: water (any liquids thickness), fire, particle effects, bloom, depth of field...
    • Post productions? like: brightness/contrast and hue/saturation transitions
    • What about lighting and raycasting shadows (if its just 2D engine)
    • How does it work with hires images? 2048x1536 or 8190x1536 (scrolling image)

    Thanks you for answers
