  • It's a actually not the worst idea I've ever heard in my life. I'll try it out, also for when running as an app.

  • I don't quite see how I can accomplish this by creating objects at the start of the layout using actions either (rather than placing objects out manually in the editor), because I want the objects to "persist" when each layout is restarted (say for example if the character dies, then the layout should be reset, but not the whole game).

  • I believe I am struggling with something quite similar.

    I'm creating a game constisting of several layouts, and within each layout there are several objects with Persist behaviour (when one of these objects is destroyed, say an enemy, it will be gone when the layout is reset). This all works fine, but when the game is completed, I want the player to be able to restart the game, and then every object should be where I put them in the editor. But using Persist, they are not reset. Maybe I'm not fully understanding what some people mention above here about a menu that resets everyhting?

  • I've tried to play around with the pin behaviour, but I'm not sure I'm using it correctly.

    I'm also not sure exactly what other behaviours I need. The playerbox only has the platform behaviour, but when I add physics to the rotating platform I want to be able to jump on, the character just falls through it. Adding Solid as well as Physics to the platform enables to character to walk on it (but not smoothly). Adding physics to the playerbox seems to mess things up even worse.

  • Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I wasn't able to find exactly what I'm looking for.

    I have a an object with physics added to it so that it behaves as it is swaying in the wind. I also have a character controlled by the player (sticking to a bounding box that has the Platform behaviour added to it), and I'm trying to make it so that the player can jump onto this platform and follow its movements smoothly (while standing still). If the object doesn't sway, it's fine, but as soon as some angle is applied, the character will sort of flicker and move slighty, which doesn't look good at all.

    (The platform is sticking to another object with physics applied with Immovable set to Yes using joints.)

    Any idea how I can improve this?

  • oceldot - so what are the steps to fix? You might as well post the steps here so the solution is in more than one place.

    Sorry, not really much more to add. During export from Construct, you only need to make sure you export to the folder named www after Intel XDK has generated its files during project creation.

  • I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I'm having some issues with adding sound to my game.

    Basically, I have imported a short audio clip with footsteps, and I want this to play whenever the character is touching the floor and is moving left or right.

    However, it seems no matter how I set it up, it sounds like the clip is starting over and over again (before it is finished). Not sure how else to describe it.

    I thought an event like this would work, but maybe I'm missing something?

    Player - Platform is moving

    Player - Platform is on floor -> Audio - Play sound

  • Interestingly it seems that whatever I export will be displayed the same way after building in Intel XDK. I swear I was able to build and open something before I updated. Maybe there is some kind of device specific issue. How annoying. Deleting all the cached data from Settings - Storage did not help, neither did uninstalling and installing the app again. Has no one else experienced any issues with the latest XDK?
