  • You know, I'm one of those who autos 1/5 for any f clone on Kong. You can do this without even clinking on the game; just run your mouse over and click on the 1 star icon. Maybe they didn't care enough to actually try it.

  • Flappy bird type game please. Not enough of those yet...

Or he could copy a C2 tutorial game and market that, because that's not novice hour repeats.

A spaghetti that is too funny to be eaten!

But then he does get eaten, by a westerner wearing a cowboy hat. Throw in a hospital, dancing girls, & a talking donkey, and you'll have more spaghetti in the westerner than you can poke a stick at.

  • i know i know. learning. i want only the "Big" money.

If money is your ambition, then the easiest way to get big money is to get an education, and get a qualification which pays well.

Sorry, but creative & art types of activities are on average bad income providers, period.

  • Steam is a good representation of gamers: http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

17% of the gaming community speak Russian?

Guess you need to learn a new language then.

Arima: If you can have your game operating smoothly on your computer that'll be good. However if it's a choice between having a game not up to your expectations but which runs smooth on your old system, vs a game which does much of what you seek but needs a computer made in the last 5 years, then you will have to think carefully about which is most important.

Of course, this is something only you can decide. Hopefully you wont need to make such a choice <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

  • Princesses are too high maintenance anyway.

  • I'm afraid zenox has hit the nail on the head with a golly solid hammer. Google's algorithms promote sites with lots of links, which essentially means Google is a spam promoter. If there are 20 similar competing businesses in the region, then this means the spammers win on Google's search rank every time.

And the number of actual potential customers it would annoy. Basically zero. There would have to be about a billion internet users. You divide this with (or is it by) the number of annoyed forum users, and calculate their potential market range, and you'll see it's precious little potential customer backlash for a giant Google rank gain.

    Unfortunately.

  • I personally still think the product as is. Is not worth that much. It's too niche.

    I'd agree with this.

I think it's more that the FB owners paid big money for a product not really worth such a massive sum of money. It's no wonder the Oculus creators are jumping up for joy.

Oculus is a millstone round FB's neck. If they fail to make it a commercial success, everybody will point fingers at FB. They have a hard road ahead of them.

  • There's this, which has a large number of examples & tutorials:

Don't know when it last had stuff added, but maybe Kyatric would add to it if there were new suitable tutorials &/or examples.

  • [quote:3qv5jsv3]However, what matters more when making a game is your methods. If you can't optimize, no engine is going to save you..... So because of my methods and lazyness, not the engine itself, my game runs faster in Game Maker

Unfortunately, you invalidate your own 'comparison' post here.

If you put a similar effort into both, then you would have a fair & honest comparison.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Luck is a far smaller factor for successful game making, than for something like writing a best selling book.

In game making, if you can produce a decent game, people will take notice, regardless of who you are. Yes, there's a small glass ceiling, but your limitations for breaking it are down to your resources (including talents) in making the decent game.

Compare this to writing. When was the last time you heard of a truly 'average' person making it in fiction? It doesn't happen. Unless you're already somebody, or have links to a group which will piggyback you, you won't even have permission to enter the room with a glass ceiling, much less break it.

  • That's what's amazing. An old system with XP doesn't run so much worse than a new system with Win7/8 on most things. Just shows you how much we need a different OS.

(edit: by different OS, I meant different to Microsoft. Imagine how fast modern computers would be without MS's lead weight).
