  • And .. if you start at 13 and spend 5 years making what you really want on full day. You'll most likely be good enough to get a *real JOB* .. And then you don't need to worry about some 100usd fees anymore.

(Sorry.. this is old stuff, and I know the world has changed ..)

I purchased my first own computer (Was C64 and 1541 drive) when I was 15/16. Spend summers (schooll break) doing various odd jobs (painting houses etc).. learned to code, even learned English at the side, since there were no native manuals. Couple years later I did occasional programming gigs for local university .. (basic, pascal .. )

So, learn to do things well, it may take few years but if you are talented and motivated there will be opportunity someday,

PS: To those.. who wonder.. According the wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_64 , the price of that machine would equal 1500USD on todays money.. I do remember it was **** lot money for the day. And the Disk Drive was similarly priced, and I had to spend another summers work just to get that. It was a big investment back then, but I have never regret it.

  • Is there any way to report an IDIOT/troll? .. I noticed that he (kota) has apparently been reported on warez, but IMHO kick/ban are the least minimum he deserves?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Seriously, could the admins just kick/ban this moron kota? He's wasting everybody's time, forum space (and even Air, IMHO) and should not be around at all.

  • For outsider it's really hard to guess what's going on. I did get this feeling that the slowdown is somehow related to display movement and revealing/drawing the new areas of the map?

I really like the way light works.. It does get a bit slow occasionally (when revealing a long passage), but otoh it kinda looks cool to show light flooding in the area. It might actually be a neat trick to add some effect (flicker, flare, swirl ??) to the newly lit squares.. just for a second (or less..)..

As said before. It looks interesting and I do hope you'll keep on making full game

  • Well, it's animation tool, so it can't do all the imaginable things, but there are a lot of interesting possibilities and they develop and test with C2 .. As you'll see on their site and videos, they seem to be using Construct quite a lot. I'd recommend checking of their latest video, there are some really neat features that are not yet available on publicly available C2 -plugin.

    Video on youtube:

  • Sounds definitely interesting. For second one I'd like to see something extra. Something that gives the players interest over Roll20.net (and similar) that allows tabletop like gaming over net. Of course good sounds and animations do a lot, but I think there's need a lot of stories, quests and other attractions that must be prepared, and tested well.

As a comparision of successfull Kickstarter.. The Shadowrun (which was legendary brand and turn based isometric) game did get quite bad reviews since the final game storyline was quite weak and short. They are now releasing a first extension pack to it, but I'm not sure if it's something most people are willing to pay (again).

  • Finn, So my native is Finnish, but I have been messing with computers and electronics since old 8-bit (AppleII and C64) era, so I have done quite a lot reading. I'm sure my English ain't according the official specs, but I do hope it's clear enough.

Techically I also know some Swedish, but that's so long gone/forgotten I would not expect much.

  • Essentially.. No. Technically you could just make a big javascript plug in that does all the stuff you need and then insert it into Construct, but I doubt that would make much sense.

  • I agree, the map is big enough, especially since you have ability to make more of them dynamically. I did seem to have frame rate drops on this one. Not sure if there is something major difference.

  • I mentioned MAG since I'd consider it the proven limit achievable with big money. It was technological breakthrough, but for us who were part of the beta tests (from early closed betas) the problems were obvious with those largest maps. latencies, keeping 512 players active and participating, with some coherency and coordination. It was not all about tech issues, but those did not help the gaming.

I know that computer power and network bandwidths have increased a lot since those days, but the network latency are still there and in any action game the Delays set the final limit. This is one of the reasons those big gaming companies have distributed servers on various continents. Usually there are at least 3 sets (Americas, Europe, Asia), and hefty systems.

So if you want to use one server to serve all world, be prepared to big problems.. Even though data pipes are quite wide, the latency will hit hard when clients are overseas.

For local multiplayers (on same lan/wifi) I'd agree on the BW/SW/HW.

  • Guizmus No rep limit for attachments, we want new users to be able to upload capx's for bug reports and how do I's

Hi Tom, I really like this.. The old way of uploading pics and capx to dropbox was anonying as ****- I hope this don't lead to spam-files, etc apparering to posts.

  • Not to mention that the King's hit game is a clone on it's own.

Realistically.. You most likely don't have resources to do any meaningful protection and most likely just waste the time/money/effort on even trying to do so.
