  • My best practice is to use nested events like your first picture. It helps me to debug faster and better.

    Update: Showing probability draw difference from infinite sample and definite sample

    [attachment=0:237z7hoe][/attachment:237z7hoe]

    For infinite sample, the result may vary because the sample is infinite.

    For definite sample of 100, no matter how many time you draw 100, you'll get A=10, B=30, C=40

    How I'd do it for probability with chance:

    Case study:

    A=10% chance

    B=30% chance

    C=60% chance

    Capx:Updated below

  • which is pretty simple. I just punch the numbers into a two point form calculator and it gives me the y= and I plug it in (angle = 1.7*speed + 20 in this example)

    This is linear equation.

    which is easy enough. but let's say I want to add a curve to that line (so the angle changes slower at slower speeds and faster at faster speeds), what's the math I'm looking for? I used to know these things.. just need a reminder.

    Possibly you're looking for quadratic equation? Keyword = polynomial.

    App2 picture is the same wit App1??.

    Just by a glimpse I think you should convert your WebSocket.MessageText into integer first, I might be wrong (I'm not familiar with websocket) but your variable is a number, the one you receive is string. I think it should be like below:

    Set

    visibility to int(WebSocket.MessageText)

    Let me know how it goes.

  • I am confused. You stated earlier that

    [quote:3d6vo9v1]However, for now my best shot is windows server for the obvious reason.

    What I meant with "obvious reason" is I want to use/run/control a webbrowser, thinking of using chrome to run my dedicated game server. Had a brief read on cPanel, I don't really see a way which allows me to control my browser on the server, it's like an interface exclusively for webhosting (which is not what I'm looking for), but correct me if i'm wrong. The only way to do it, as far as I have researched is to remote-desktop.

  • vancouver thanks for the golden informations!

    There is so much to know about hosting ... I should write a tutorial ...

    Do that please, I've been looking for this!

    Check out bluehost.com or hostgator.com

    I have dealt with them and they have acted as expected. Why didn't you shortlist them? (just curious)

    The shortlist is actually based on my current skill limitation/familiarity with the server's OS. I figured I should know how to use Linux OS first, then make decision. The plan is to learn CentOS after I spend sometime with Debian, which most internet people said learning something as Debian will help me thrive in other OS. Debian>CentOS>Ubuntu, I planned to familiarize in that order.

  • I'm turning 27 and I thought I was late to the party... Somehow I felt good about myself after reading this thread.

    I'm glad that I'm doing engineering job, I feel that it helped me to think of something complex and let me do something ambitious in C2, it's a dream, and yeah I'm totally going for it!!

    Challenge: As a person in late 20 like me, I find it very hard to juggle things around, I need to find stability in career, make sure I don't mess things up and need to build a career reputation. As old as I am, I have a job but no assurance in living if I quit.

    Games I'm working on: Nothing concrete for now, but I'm aiming (my dream that is) to build a successful multiplayer game or MMO hopefully. I feel I'm close to getting a reliable template for multiplayer game which I can recycle with a few game genre/mechanics.

  • vancouver I'm not rushing into it just so that you know (my game is still far away from completion), I'm not familiar to a lot of things regarding hosting a server, so the thread meant to be a preparation for me (or others) before jumping into something serious.

    I have not yet look into cPanel, whatever that is, so I'm taking baby steps to learn about this. I'm currently learning how to use Debian (so HARD!!) since yesterday as a preparation (turned my old junky laptop into Debian OS

    The only way which I think I can do this is to have the ability to remote-desktop the server, and make sure I'm able to use the browser, since my dedicated gamehost/server is made purely in C2. Still fighting with major bugs/exploits with my project though.

    A quick advise to you is to:

    Register your domain name(s) with a different company that you host with (who ever that will be)!

    I'm interested in this, mind explain a bit further on your experience?

  • i have a first made game using construct 2 ,im new to construct

    its a platformer,you can finish this in only 5 minutes and its crappy

    rate my skills if its not crappy. Im only 11 years old thats why its crappy

    (sry for bad english)

    http://www.scirra.com/arcade/action/17341/robout

    Trust me not many 11years old in the world can do what you did. I wish I started as young as you are! Dont give up making games, focus in your mathematic class and you'll be great once you turn adult!

    GOOD JOB!

  • That does not help me at all, nor explain ¬¬

    If something that simple doesn't help you, nothing will. Suggest read thoroughly.

  • Darn it. +1 to this thread.
