  • thank you guys for the support!!

  • That's the link

thanks for posting the link, i can't yet, I haven't been on the boards much.

  • Nice! Thanks for that tutorials,by the way,why you not make a simple website with fill of construct 2 tutorials?

i might, but i work a day job and I am about to start on my second college degree, so i am really busy, I am considering it though.

  • I am not a teacher ( i want to be though) but I love to make tutorials and you have to start to somewhere. Here is a list of tutorials I have made for the people just starting out in Construct 2.

If you have a particular request please send it here : greattutorialsforgames(at)gmail(dot)com

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • So i was kicking around the idea for a simple rts style item selector for a demo i am making. you select the car and it moves where you want it to go and then stop where the mouse clicked.

i though all i had to do was to (right click_objcar) Movement toward Mouse X/Y

but i can't get it to stop at the X/Y area where i clicked

I am good with Construct but I have never done some thing like this.

is is possible to have the mouse spawn a item at X/Y area clicked and then have the car move to it and then when item and car collide the item is destroyed.

again this is my first time playing with a rts style thing (just one car to move around)

  • the closest thing would be Blender 3d with its logic bricks

Interesting. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Has your team built any games with C2 as full team (ie, more than just 1 coder/and or artist)? I think many come to C2 with the background of doing visual art...but I don't. I've been thinking about trying to find an artist to collaborate with once I've got a couple prototypes together, and I've been curious about how C2 works for teams.

Construct 2 works great with teams. As for games, we work on website games, but we'll be expanding to mobile games this year.

  • game maker coding is not bad, Unity though can be tricky, but the forums are nice. But like i said Construct does work well for what i do in the Studio.

  • Dwarves are always a good start to a game. <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

How do you like construct vs. GM, Unity, etc? Always interesting to hear...

Well I started with game maker Studio and it works great, either with code or drag and drop. But like how Construct 2 has the touch controls in the drag and drop code setup. In GM we had to hard code a plugin to do the same thing. In unity, it is less easy to just drag and drop, the code. Even with our own plugin for that it is not easy.

Still would like Construct 2 to have a in-engine exporter. But Construct 2 does work with us building web games and Android games. It is a easy to build something within a week and test it. The Same can be said for GM, but Construct has a easier drag and drop code system.

The reason I keep saying "drag and drop" is because in a studio of ten, only 3 are coders. They are often working on a "larger title" so with drag and drop we can build something and show the boss. Or in some cases just build it with an artist and then release it.

    So here is my ranking

    1. Construct 2 ( 2 years experience)

    2. Game Maker ( 5 years experience)

    3. Unity 3d (the 2d game setup) (1 year experience)

I really love each of these engines but after about 2 weeks on Construct 2 most of the team was making games.
