  • I prefer the grid style though I would A-B test that with various people. I know a lot of folks that prefer an interactive map as well. To me, an interactive map is better suited for more story driven games or a game with a clear purpose of direction. In most brick breaker style of games, the primary function is to break all the breaks and achieve the highest score. It feels less story driven to me.

On another note, what does Salam Aidilfitri mean? I noticed it in your signature and I was curious.

  • Amazingly well done good sir! That clone took me back to playing that game in my aunt's living room when I was a child on the Atari. Very well done.

I did experience one issue and have two requests though.

Issue: During the intermittent music bleeps, I was experiencing a pop when the sound was initiated. This was on Windows 7 with the latest stable version of Chrome. I'll try on other variations later when I have more time to see if the issue continues.

Requests: Can you add controller support quick? Could you also release a Node version so I can download it and put it in with my Steam collection in the Steam app? I'm hyper organized and like to keep my stuff in one place. I would also love to see your clone among my games list. It would be a fun, nice surprise every time I fired up steam.

Edit: I did not experience the sound popping issue on IE11 with the same computer.

  • My steam collection is growing, mostly because of the on-sale games. It's hard to pass up a deal like that. And you're right - someday I might want to play them.

Trine is an awesome game! Spotted that on your list. DId you play the original Red Faction yet? If you like FPS games, I would give it a whirl. Granted, I haven't played it since it originally came out on the consoles way back when, It was a pretty fun and innovative game for the time.

If you build it, they will come.

I get that reference!! Because I'm old....

  • Do you have free graphics? And what are prices like for your other graphics? Also, if you don't mind, I'd like a bit more information so I can add a link in my game dev resource list.

  • I'm actually working on a sort of brick breaker game now in my down time. I love brick breaker style games. I'm aiming for a different style theme for mine. Hopefully it'll be fun.

  • Out of curiosity, would anyone be interested in starting some kind of group, or place to chat, for older game developers to come to? I don't mean it a replacement to such things as Scirra's forums nor other places like Gamedev.com. Just a place where older folks could come to connect with others and where they might feel a bit more of a connection on a personal level to others that 'just get' current circumstances of life?

I have been thinking it over the past couple of days and I can see a sort of support and encouragement type of forum to be a nice place. I was wondering if anyone else would be interested and use such a thing as well.

If so, what would be your ideal type of place? I ask because I pay for hosting that I don't readily use nor do I want to give up. It would be nothing at all to setup a subdomain out of the way of my current domain and put up a quick platform. Let it see how it see how it evolves and takes off from there.

  • I'm 30 myself. I'm in college now. I started later in life. If it's a passion, keep at it. It's easy to become disenchanted this late in life because of how young many of the members in the industry are and the rate at which games come out. It seems like it should be so much easier than it is. The talent out there is amazing. Keep at it though. Maybe we should start a community for older, newbie game devs.

  • I'm a fan of the old fashioned style power-ups, like multiball and such, but it might be really cool to experiment with lighting for effects. It has the possibility to make some pretty interesting eye candy.

I am so happy to hear this! I'm hoping it takes off and visual assets get flooded in the store. I'd be willing to pay for some good graphics.

  • No problem. I'm always happy to assist where I can.
