  • So I found a solution for my specific issue. I decided to can the turret features as they eluded me and just went with good ol' fashion programing to get it going. With this bit of code it allows the player to enter a preset range, the enemy will turn face the player and throw and object that hurts the player. Below is an event sheet on how I was able to achieve it. If anyone has thoughts on how to streamline the code for efficiency please let me know.

In this, the Hero is the player, Acorn is the throwable object, squirrel is the enemy, and range is an invisible red box surrounding the squirrel.

  • Thanks for all the great feedback. My idea is that since Zan gets this orgasmic pleasure from smashing things, that will be how you heal yourself. In the end everything will pretty much be smashable, trees, bushes, traps, enemies. Also at the end of the levels when you hit the TNT plungers the entire level will blow up rocketing you into the next level. Once you beat all the levels of that world, the entire planet blows up and you are rocketed back into space until you land on another world to destroy. Game title may become ZAN: The Destroyer. Once you have beaten all the worlds, it will show Zan floating in space then getting sucked into a blackhole, opening it up to a sequel with new worlds.

  • So I'm new to turrets and this is my first time setting one up. I just can't seem to get it working though. I have a Squirrel enemy that I want to throw acorns at the hero so I figured a turret would be ideal as it has targeting and range options. When I set it up nothing happens at all if I have rotate turned off. If I have rotate turned on the squirrel rotates until it's back is turned to me and starts throwing acorns perfectly. I'm guessing there is a way to tell Construct what the front of the turret is, but I have no clue how. And no clue as to why it doesn't work at all if rotate is turned off. On a side note, is there a way to have the acorns destroyed if they collide with anything, not just a specific object?

    Any ideas are appreciated.

Also working on design for stage 4.

    All input welcome.

  • Thanks for the compliment, I just finished the attack animation so I will be introducing that shortly. I finally had a eureka moment and figured out the storyline, which up until this point had eluded me.

  • Howdy ya'll I've started work on a new game yesterday currently entitled Project Zan. I'm still newish to Construct 2 and the forums, but I thought I'd share what I have so far. All artwork and animations were done by me. Right now you can run/jump and there are a few obstacles in the way. There is a buggy health bar and a death scenario. Tomorrow I plan on creating more scenery pieces and doing an attack animation.

    Game-type: 2D Plat-former/Smash up

Synopsis: Zan comes from an alien race that gets immense joy from destroying things with their hands. It is almost orgasmic for him and his race to smash things with their sledge hammer like fists. Sadly due to their love of destruction Zan's home planet has been all, but completely destroyed. Zan decided to rocket himself into outer space in search of other worlds his people would be able to live on. Upon landing on these other worlds his urges get the best of him and the lust to destroy overwhelms him. You will destroy obstacles, enemies, and eventually entire worlds. For you are Zan, the destroyer.

  • Howdy ya'll, my name is VictoryX as shown above. You can call me Vic, Victor, Victory, just never call me late for dinner. I have a degree in video game design and digital animation and visual effects. I've worked on two of the highest grossing films of all time. I used to be in the movie industry but I'm leaning toward developing my own indie games. Can't wait to share my work and check out other peoples projects. Already been binging on the Arcade so, should be fun!

  • Sweet, I will have to take a gander then and see if I can't get my REP up.

  • I tried posting a topic in Your Creations about a new game I'm working on. It keeps saying I don't have the REP to post URLS though. Which is queer as I have posted URLS before with no problem. Did they raise the amount of REP needed to post URLS or are there different requirements for each sub-forum?? I dunno thought it was weird.

  • Oh, nice I knew that duplicated the sprites, didn't know the code would work for the duplicates. Well that was easy. Thank you very much.

  • So I'm new to the forums and new to Construct. I've been following tutorials and doing tests on creating a platform game. I went with a Mario theme for testing as it is easy to find artwork, so I don't have to create art while I'm figuring out the engine. I've created a Goomba enemy and when Mario jumps on him he dies.I'm wondering now how I can duplicate this enemy within my level, code and all, so I won't have to re-code every single enemy. Basically is there any way to code an enemy, then just duplicate him over and over to create more instances of that same enemy within the level.

Here's what I have so far.
