  • Thanks for the in-depth advise guys. My inital intention was to get through as many tutorials as possible to get the hang of the mechanics of c2 whilst picking up ideas that will help me work towards a few concepts I have on the back burner. I will be following your advice and working hard to get better!

I apprecaite the help dudes :)

  • Seems pretty unanimous, thanks dudes!

  • Sorry if this is too general a question guys.

I'm interested to get peoples take on whether it's best for someone getting started in games design and using tools like construct 2(exclusively at this point) to either:

Bang out as many prototypes and working concepts as possible in the early stage, focusing more on getting to grips with the tools, and improving efficiency, skill level and understanding of the process?

Or alternatively focusing a single/few key ideas and concepts and knuckle down on investing the time to establish these concepts into a refined working game, possible taking years to do?

Is it helpful to set specific goals to ensure progress is made in a techincial respect?

    Any advise welcome, thanks dudes!

  • anyone got any idea why the jump *(from idle postion) isnt working then. tearing my hair out!

  • dropbox.com/s/4xz83xvn57hwmdl/testrun.capx

first time using that site so can someone tell me if it doesnt work.

Also please forgive how crappy the project is...I'm just starting out!

  • thanks dude. I'll give that shot

  • Just wondering if a couple of posters could sound off on the best choice for a newb who does not have much experience using art software. I'm looking ideally for one where ease of use is a strong point but has reasonable capabilities as my skill level increases.

I'm an ok artists with no real experience using any Photoshop software or any other program so blank sheet really.

I intend on putting a good amount of work in and am starting learning pixel art so ideally it would be good for that purpose but not exclusively so...

    Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated! <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • would it come across as really dumb if i said i didnt know what that was?

  • <img src="http://i44.tinypic.com/123r6tz.jpg" border="0" />

It's not using the jump animation for jump from not moving. i think its also maintaining the run animation whilst moving and jumping.

Can anyone see where I'm going wrong from this screen shot?

    Thanks
