  • Not sure if it is the right place, but wanted to share with the community. We are presenting at the Eye Tracking South Africa Conference currently running in Cape Town, and among other things will be talking about Construct 2 and the possibilities that it offers eye tracking users.

  • "but what about Google? it has lots of users that are not willing to pay for anything"

Alot of the reasons stated szymek are problematic for any developer, regardless of platform. There is a certain playing population that will never pay.

Perhaps we as developers are partly to blame. The current trend to make people pay to remove adverts as seen on alot of iPad games, is actually insulting to our customers. Basically we are saying, I have put an annoyance in your game, so that you can pay me to remove it. Perhaps we need to look at our ethics, and try engage our paying public on a slightly higher level. ie make a great game that people are willing to pay for.

  • Przemek32767, thank you very much. Found the existence of the browser object most useful. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

  • I will not need to loop the dwell. The game is for an eye tracking user, so the dwell will in fact be a selection, once the dwell is finished it will make the selection. I think I know how to do that.

Is this what you meant on the trigger once?

    Thanks for all the help.

  • Thank you, not sure that I wanted to brave a beta at this early stage of my Contruct2 learning.

OK, thanks for fixing that. Am I correct in saying that my single invert events were basically cancelling out each of the other dwell animations?

In your opinion is there another glaringly obvious way of doing this, or am I on the right track here?

Thanks so much for the help. I will sleep tonight.

  • blackhornet, firstly thank you for such a prompt response. Tried to look at the capx, but says it was created in a newer version, 141 or later. However I am running 139 (32bit) which as far as I can see from the website is the latest version, are you running a beta? Is there any way I can look at the capx without installing the beta?

    Thanks

  • I am fairly new to Construct2, and although I have done a fair bit of research, please do not assume I know much (eg I only figured out invert today, not sure how I missed it before)

The gameplay here is irrelevant, as it is with my settings screen that I have a problem. I have an animation that is supposed to run when it goes over an object (graphic being used as a button). This stripped down capx shows it working as it should. Put the mouse over the Medium and the animation starts, take it off it stops, excellent.

However when I add a few more events for the other two objects the animation stops. The events are working as they all continue to highlight well, just no animations.

It would be great if someone could point out my error. Any alternate methods would be most welcome too.

    Thanks in advance

  • THank you for this post. Went to look for the invert. WOW. Thanks, what a difference that will make.

  • I appreciate this is an old post, but the only one I could see on creating an eye tracking object plugin. Pode, although you are correct about the limited computer interaction with eye trackers, for some people their eyes are all they have. We work with persons whose only controllable body part are their eyes and the eye trackers open up a world of opportunities for them. Often this can be enhanced using adapated switches in conjunction with the eye tracking to provide some extra functionality.

I was wondering if you are aware if anyone had progressed on this issue. We have two Tobii PCEye trackers and are starting to develop games for both educational and entertainment for our eye tracking clients. Although they are playable using the Tobii Mouse Emulation mode, and using the mouse object, it would improve the experience if the games could be eye enabled, using an eye tracking object in an effort to avoid erroneous interactions that can arise from using the older Mouse Emulation instead of the new Tobii Gaze Selection.

    Hope to hear from you.
