    *disclaimer: what you are about to experience was put together in one afternoon and features early accessness, some placeholders and awesome art by Vicki Wenderlich. The idea was also conceived, way before Flappy Bird influenza struck the world. All feedback gratefully received.

  • Logging in (with Chrome beta) took a good while!

    Also had to press submit twice for some reason.

  • Thanks guys :) little that backs up my findings, ta :)

  • Turns out """" = single quote.. odd

  • Ok so since determined this doesn't work as its still not comparing to the single quote. I can search for any other value i.e. , . etc just not the "

  • Ok, literally just found a work around. Not the best way round it, but a way round.

    Add a text object with the text value as "

    Then compare with text.text and voila.

  • Hi everyone. I'm working with some text parsing currently.

    Any ideas how I can search for a single speech quote like this >> " << ??

    C2 obviously can't search for this as it thinks I mean a string.. and says string missing finishing " doh!

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

  • Hey everyone.

    I've created a handy NumPad debugging tool which helps you add debugging commands which you can set to numpad combinations like NUM1, NUM5, NUM9.

    You can add as many as you need and handy tip would be to print out the list for easy access.

    You can download it free at

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/54306559/NumPad%20Debug.capx

    You are welcome to use this in your projects. Simply follow the instructions in the .capx file. But essentially its just an event sheet you are free to use.

    Hope you find it useful! I certainly do. It's most useful for adding commands that reset levels, turn on things like ghost mode / god mode etc which you can easily not include in the final release!

    ps. if you use Chrome Canary, it will also speak to you!

  • Hah, that would make for an awesome remake :D with you on that! Thank you.

    Play Free Online Jousting Game

    Just a free wee game I've knocked up over the last week, one of which I will be showing children how to make, as part of my new venture... Feedback would be awesome. Otherwise, please enjoy!

    Should be tablet friendly (visit the link at lioncoregames.com/joust) as all controlled by touch.

  • Not discovered a way to use / load custom images without using web links either, which wouldn't really work for custom images. will let you know if I find anything first as this is an important feature I need for a project of my own.

    Best, Liam

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I have big plans to get kids moving beyond Scratch and taking "making games" further, and I see Construct 2 as the perfect tool to be able to do that.

    Which is why I've been busy working on YoungGamesMaker.com a future resource for kids that have a passion for making games and two coinciding apps. Also looking to turn passion for playing video games into making video games.

    1) Look What I Made -> http://lioncoregames.com/lookwhatimade

    Child picks a game, but to play it they have to construct it by performing actions / painting / piecing the game together, the idea being as they progress through the games the involvement will increase.

    (currently only mole whacking and space monkey games available to build)

    should work on tablet, web or mobile :)

    2) Kids Game Builder -> http://younggamesmaker.com/kidsgamebuilder

    This fun app will give the kids a playground to make games, with a lot more control than the last app :) - this one is better suited to web / tablet.

    Let me know your feedback if you do check them out;

    IF you do have kids yourself I would absolutely love them to check it out and give their feedback / verdicts. Both are free to play and should work on a tablet.

    My two both under 8 absolutely love them and have given me very valuable feedback up-to-now!

    Thank you and keep coding :)
