  • Having the option to disable embed would be handy. Personally though, I like having embedding open for anyone. Means more exposure. : )

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • R0J0hound not to keep bugging you about features, but I ran into something else unexpected. In porting from the Scirra physics engines to Chipmunk, I noticed that the center of mass is not longer set to... well... the object's center of mass, but rather the origin.

Is there any way I could, say, set this as a global default? Or per object? It would be so much easier because right now my player is sorta hard-coded to explode into pieces, and unfortunately otherwise I would have to hand-change about 24 different object & frame origins.

Not a huge deal, but so time consuming, especially when I have other oddities using Chipmunk that have not come up with Scirra's vanilla physics.

  • Hi Cris! Long time no talk. Forgot to reply on the other thread you 'd me, and I've been really busy (Washington DC college trip).

Anyway, lovin' the art you've got up and around. I don't have anything I personally need for my own projects (yet, anyway!), but I will keep you in mind. : )

How have you been? What got you into art development? This all looks quite new!

  • Awesome! This is great news as I am close to graduation and would like to start developing games as soon as I can.

On a side note, I do have a request:

Could you add the option to display buttons that link to other platforms such as Android App Store, Apple iTunes, and/or Steam & Itch.IO?

Essentially I'm looking for an option that would allow me to promote mobile versions of my games, and/or games for the desktop.

  • LICEcap and GifCam are both great tools, and the best freeware for GIFs. I find them both useful depending on what I need, so do some experimentation. : )

  • R0J0hound, awesome, thank you! I converted most of my game to Chipmunk, which, so far on my laptop, runs with less hiccups than the current C2 physics engine(s). Next stop is to see how it performs on my phone!

  • TheDom, yes, but I think his question would/is probably more along the lines of: how do you connect to another device to be able to use said phone screen controls to send commands to the other device?

Honestly, khadembashy, I think there has to be other software that could achieve your idea. Construct 2 is suited specifically more for games.

However, if you are leaning more toward using a phone device to connect with, say, a browser of yours to control the game loaded in said browser, that would be possible using the WebRTC Multiplayer plugin, and I'm already getting ideas for it.

  • R0J0hound any plans for minification still? : )

  • Not everyone has a WebM file lying around. I mean, it is probably expected Ashley to have such a file for testing services, but just saying, it is quicker to download a single forum-attachment *.capx file, contrary to your thoughts on the matter.

  • nimos100 not if we do not have the same video source that you are using. You will need to upload a *capx project that has either a test source that works, or the one that you are testing with.

  • Juryiel it's not just experience. I usually don't have time to just sit down and write out all the tests involved in both comparing versions and creating a detailed bug report.

My game has been something I have been working with on the side, and this issue has only really come up in devices that are less powerful than my laptop. So of course if after 6 hours of work I export and only see ugly pauses in my game, I need to move on to homework or whathaveyou.

I will get something together as soon as I can. My plan is to simply export for web in r202, and then r195 - both the same exact project. And neither of them use anything implemented in between so I shouldn't have issues there. This should be the quickest way to get something visible available.

Edit: also, just to clarify, I keep saying this isn't a slowdown, but tiny obvious moments of lag that don't make the game unplayable, rather, frustrating.

I mean hell, otherwise physics area great!!!!! It's simply this one issue. That's it. Performance is AOK otherwise.

  • QuaziGNRLnose since the update I specified there was a slowdown with something I am using (and I suspect physics because it's the only intensive behavior I have). Nothing, nothing at all had been updated besides one revision of the C2 engine, and all of a sudden I started having issues. Other users as well.

Also, I was just springboarding off the last post based on my assumptions about the resolution of graphics affecting the cost on hardware. It's good to know, so thank you.
