  • Hi,

    the big downside of distributing desktop games/apps made with C2 is their size, which is quite big since it includes the player. My simple tetris clone is something like 60mb and no one will download it, for instance. And having it as a browser game is making me drop webgl and other stuff since I want it to play the same for everyone.

    So my idea was: what about adding another export option wich splits player and contents in two different packages? That way I could (for instance) put a link for downloading the games player and then many links for downloading the games. This could only work if the player stays the same for all ther games, of course, and it would also allow for updating the player only.

    I guess such an approach could have pros and cons and I would be interested on what Ashley has to say about this :)

  • Hi Manley23, I understand what you mean, I got 1 star ratings too on my game and surely it's not a game that deserves 1 star, especially if compared to many other games on the Arcade. Some frustrated people have fun like that, it's life and I am sorry for them more than for my rating :)

    Beside that, the whole Arcade rating and overall system is so broken right now that it probably makes no sense posting there and/or expecting rating to be fair or useful. I hope the promised Arcade update will rock and give the C2 gaming community a big push forward!

  • Hi Manley23, I did read some of your posts recently and I agree with you :)

    The Arcade is such a great idea, I really hope they will make it better. About C2 made games, I am seriously considering only targeting Chrome and desktop for the new game I'm working on!

    In meantime I am working to port Constructris to Android/iOS/WP8, it's part of the test I had in mind (developing a simple full functional game and port it to various platforms).

  • Yep I noticed that too. It's not a nice thing at all, because that simple competition was a nice way to push us all to develop more and share more in there, I think.

    I really wish the Scirra guys could give us some details and vague dates about the future Arcade, and in meantime fix the biggest issues of the existing one :)

  • Since no one answered, I answer myself (somehow). I just downloaded the beta r141 and compiled again my game and uploaded it to Arcade.. you know, just in case ;) and guess what, the game now works! At least here. I wonder what was the problem and if r141 really fixed things or it was a server issue that got fixed in same moments.. whatever, I just hope the game will keep working ahah.

    So please go, have fun and rate me good if you think the game is nice :)

  • Yes indeed. When yesterday I uploaded the game to the Arcade I was shocked because of all the issues, especially because I spent so much time testing it in every browser I have on desktop and mobile (Android e WP).

    It would be great if we could get some feedback about this.

  • Hi Sargas, I took the time to download the capx and to try the game link on dropbox and on Arcade; I'm experiencing the same kind of issues, as I posted in my own thread yesterday evening; sorry I didn't read your one before, I could have just replied to it instead! :)

    I was kinda sure my problem had something to do with touch events but from your capx I see you use none.

    As you did, I used vanilla C2, no third party plugins.

    Which version of C2 are you using? I'm using the r140 beta.

    I hope someone will answer to us and helps us fix this problem. By the way there are other issues too in Arcade/Forums (badges, game previews not updating, descriptions not updating everywhere, maybe there is a connection).

  • Hi there! I uploaded a copy of my game to the Arcade after testing it in various browsers as website, but I see that in Arcade:

    * touch directions are not working (select/start/a/b work)

    * when a new game is started the pieces are not falling

    I tried to understand what is going on for a couple of hours already and while I don't give up I would appreciate some help :) Does anyone have a clue about what is going on? I am not using any third party plugin, I removed all webgl effects. I'm stuck because as I said the game works as expected in browsers, even when opened on android/wp8 browsers (well it's still needing some optimizing to be more playable and responsive on mobile, but it works).

  • Take your time and enjoy holidays, Construct 2 is already awesome and I think we can wait a bit more for the next beta :)

  • Sorry for the double post, but I would really like to at least know if this is an acknowledged issue and if a bug fix is in the making. I'll upload a new version of my game soon and it's somewhat depressing it still shows the old and wrong description. Thanks and happy game making to everyone!
