  • Thankyou for the good replies.

With such fundamental differences in underlying code, functionality and output it may be worth considering a greater separation of the two versions by having different names.

For my current purposes Classic is brilliant. I look forward to seeing how 2 evolves.

  • Scirra... on Classic..."It is the predecessor to the more modern Construct 2"

More modern but there appear to be so many less features when you start clicking the mouse. Can someone explain the disparity of features because the image below makes 2 look far less useable than Classic. Indeed from what I've seen the Classic stuff is gorgeous graphics of the new millennium v's well, in my noob understanding, space invaders 1980.

  • Hi,

I have used Construct Classic for a short time (2hrs) I was so happy that I bought the Construct 2 package but now see that there are very few of the Classic plugins available in 2...am I missing a download?

Where might the 3D object import feature be?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Mike,

Just the same as you I spent a little time dabbling and recognised it for what it is.

Good luck with it. Once the boss finds out you are so smart he's going to promote you for sure!

  • Hi folks,

    I'm Alex.

My earliest recollection of video games starts with a small cabinet hosting a dodgy plastic steering wheel, a B/W CRT (kids go and Google B/W CRT) and a cardboard cutout of a race car sitting just above the screen which attached, via some linkage, to the steering wheel. You'd put your 10 cents in the slot and then you'd have to keep the cardboard cutout car within the dotted white lines at both sides of the road. The white lines moved side to side and faster and faster until you 'crashed'. Very cool (not) in the late 70's. (And pinball machines had just started getting TTL IC's in them...wow! No wonder it was a cool time right?)

I played Space Invaders when it was new! Hugely popular with kids for that time but probably not as much as MW3 was in recent times doing $775 mil in a week or so! Xevious was a favorite of mine.

Anyhow, I'm trying to do a Comp Sci degree (major in Games programming) via DE in Australia. I don't think I'll wind up in a game studio as, apparently the average age is really young, the hours are insane and it's not family friendly, however, Comp. Sci. is broad and I'll find something useful to do within it (if I can handle a partner, two babies and a full time mechanic's job whilst simultaneously meeting study requirements...over committed?) _/\<img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />/\_

Maybe Construct is going to distract me too much? What a great tool for developing all kinds of ideas!!!! My brain is sure to burst.

It's great to see a healthy and active forum.
