  • That's too bad. I've tried a number of solutions, but nothing worked. I guess I just can't use Construct 2 anymore :( Thanks anyway.

  • So, Construct 2 was working fine when it prompted me to download an update. I obliged, but after the update Contruct simply won't launch. Though the Construct window never loads, I can see in the task manager that the program is running briefly before it closes.

I have tried reinstalling update 275, then 272, which was version I was using before. I also made a rule in my antivirus program to ignore Construct. I also tried to disable my antivirus completely while opening Construct. No dice.

I don't think there's a reason to supply a .capx, since this problem persists on all .capx. Opening directly from a capx doesn't work either.

    Steps to reproduce:

    Try to launch Construct 2.

    Expected result:

    Construct 2 launches.

    Observed result:

    Construct 2 doesn't launch.

I found this crash report on my computer, maybe it can help? Some of it is in Danish though:

  • I know this is an old thread, but I'm very interested in how you made that physics based racing prototype, so if you still have the capx lying around, I would love to play around with it!

  • Thanks for the tips, I'll try it out!

  • Hi, so here's what I'm trying to do: create a map with cities on it. That bit is fairly easy, but then I'm also interested in setting or calculating the distance between each city, so I can determine how long it would take to travel from one city to the next. I'm not a great programmer, but my initial two ideas are either to create an invisible grid and somehow count the tiles between two cities and then convert that to a distance. Or, calculate the actual 'physical' distance between the cities on the map (I googled and found this thread: )

Are any of these ways feasable or is there a better, smarter way? It would be even more awesome if I could implement the option of multiple routes between each city, say a fast and a slow one for instance. But that would mean that I can't just calculate the distance in the ways I propose above, because they would calculated be in 'bird's flight' I think.

So basically, an example would be "You are in city A. Do you want to travel to city B? It will take you X days" (or seconds or whatever).

I hope this question makes sense. And thanks in advance!

  • Awesome, thanks a lot!

  • Hi oosyrag, thanks for you response. I'm a bit of a n00b and don't have much experience with arrays, if you have time could you walk me through how to use an array in this manner? I guess the game would have to know how long the queue is and where to spawn each customer, and which sprite represents a customer, right?

  • Hello.

Does anyone here have a good idea of how to create a queue of customers or people in general? As in creating X amount of sprites (the customers) and placing them in a queue with a little room between each one? And then being able to remove each customer from the front of the queue again as they get served.

A bit like in this screenshot from Sim Tower (on the ground floor):

At first I had some idea of placing a lot of invisible sprites and use them as "queue places", but that would quickly get messy and inefficient. So if anyone has a good idea, let me know:) Thanks in advance!

  • Seems the capx is no longer available. Is there somewhere I can get it?

  • 404 - file not found:(

  • Try Construct 3

  • It seems to work now. I deleted a sprite that had two effects on it, and the limitation warning disappeared. Weird thing was that the warning didn't return when I pressed ctrl+z to get the sprite back. I have a sprite with two effects that I have cloned twice, so there's a total of six effects in the project. Anyway, it seems to be working now, even though I'm not completely sure why <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Thx for your answers, it's pretty cool that the developers take time to answer forum threads:)

It says in bottom right corner that I have four events, so that's well under a 100. So I don't understand what the problem is:(

I have four layers on one layout, and 1 on another. Is the four layer maximum a total, distributed across all layouts, or is it four per layout?
