  • The Browser plugin has a language expression.

Yeah i've seen that in the manual, but how do you access it via the event sheet?

When I add Browser as a Condition there's no mention of Language...

    Basically I want to do:

Browser > is LANGUAGE > then display these graphics etc

  • I want to use particular graphics for different languages.

How do I detect which language that each phone handset is set to?

I've seen other examples on the forum of how this is done but the search function is still broken so can't search for the answer.

  • Ah right, thanks. So am I right in thinking that every Android app dev using Construct has downloaded this plugin pack, otherwise the back button on an Android device wouldn’t work while their app was running - not to mention it wouldn’t pass Android’s basic app quality standards?

  • I got the following reply from Iain Shorter last week:

The suggested methods for hiding the statusbar don't seem to work for me, Apple tend to change things a lot and I remember this historically being difficult. So to work around this I've set it to be programmatically hidden. This means it will appear for a short duration during loading but it's hidden as soon as the renderer is initialised.

This patch should be in the next release.

I don’t know what release the patch is included in but I’m using r105 and it still appears for me. Not sure what number the current stable release is.

  • Well either way I’d rather not have to shell out for a third party plugin to get something to work which is part of the android standard app quality lists. If Construct has a plugin for this but it doesn’t work it’s clearly a bug so I’ll have to file a(nother) bug report.

  • > Well, as usual, iOS need special treatment because of... apples.

Well, yeah that’s the nature of Apple isn’t it? It’s a different OS to Android. But isn’t Construct is sold as a platform that allows you to develop for both Android and Apple with limited developing experience, because the internal devs are on top of technical advancements? Are we to believe that Game Salad, Game Maker and Buildbox etc are also facing the same problem because Apple is just being a bit ...Appley?

We know GDPR threw a spanner in the works 6 weeks ago but surely that’s enough time to have sorted this? Yes you’re squashing a lot of bugs - some of them I’ve posted myself and I’ve thanked the devs each time, but developing new features while current features are broken and are frustrating your paying customer base?

Yes, we can make apps for both iOS and Android using Construct, but if (like a large majority) of app devs we want to include basics such as mobile ads then currently we can only have Android that’s GDPR compliant.

We know Apple are difficult to develop for, that’s why we pay for products like Construct, because the devs for these products know how to develop for Apple.

And going forward, in regards to Apple being difficult, awkward or whatever, I don’t need to hear that, I only need to know when the issue will be fixed. You guys are the devs - they’re you’re issues to deal with. We’re the paying customers - our only issue is to pay the subscription fee each year.

  • Ashley - any info on how to get the Android browser back button working?

The plugin set linked to by above doesn’t have great reviews (plugins not working, dev not replying) plus I’d rather use a proper Construct plugin where possible.

Is there a way to get the proper Construct plugin working?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Thanks I’ll look into that. If the regular plugin isn’t compatible with hybrid apps then why is it included? What use is it?

  • Browser > Go back doesn't work either.

Anyone managed to get this to work on their own apps?

  • Ok, Browser > go home doesn’t work - any idea which of the other options it should be?

  • Great, thanks 👍

    I've dropped in:

Browser > On mobile back button pressed > Browser > Go home

    Hopefully that will work.

  • Ok - I’ve created the leaderboard and in the Game Services section I have green ticks alongside the following:

    - Game details

    - Linked apps

    - Events

    - Achievements

    - Leaderboards

    - Testing

    - Publishing

However when I go to test the leaderboard on my app I get a transparent blue screen and a spinning wheel - as if Google Play is trying to connect to the leaderboard. I think the leaderboard is 99% set up and ready to go but do I still need to publish it for testing? How do I go about doing this?
