  • I don't know if this is a bug or not, so I'm posting it here. There seems to be no option to set the worlds (layouts) gravity or change gravity at all on C3. This is usually a vital part of my games that focus on physics, so it would be nice to be able to change gravity.

  • I've explained this in another thread, but am happy to talk about it again.

From when we announce Construct 3 to when we release Construct 3 is a period of many months. During this period, a risk we identified in advance would be that everyone stops buying Construct 2 to wait for Construct 3. If this happened, we would be haemorrhaging money which would put a lot of financial stress on the business.

It's a risk we obviously wanted to avoid, so we decided to let anyone who buys Construct 2 get their first year of Construct 3 for free so that the buyer wont hesitate if they are wondering about Construct 3.

This is not at all a slight at our current customer base, we consider a lot of Construct 2 purchases now as basically pre-orders for Construct 3.

So its free for the first year for me? Will I get the 50% off thing for C3 going for as long as I have the personal licence for C2 or is it only for the first or second year? I was going to pay the $50-100 a year anyways but this is already really nice. Also can you link me to something that shows the improvements from C3 over C2? The teaser website doesn't really show much.

Jut one last question, will you abandon C2 to work on C3 alone, or will you continue updates on both?

  • At the moment there is a very small difference between the two as well as very little reason to buy it, specially considering we have to rent it instead of the one time payment. I want to know what you guys think they should add while I will list my suggestions as well. Of course my suggestions are a little too much, but I would honestly be "renting" C3 when it comes out if it had any of these improvements over C2.

    My Suggestions:

More Export/Import support (this would be nice for phone games)

Construct 3 for Android or other phones (for work while away from the computer)

Built-in Shading (technically there is shading is in C2 but it is garbage)

    Concave Collision Polygons

Better Physics Engine (like co-operation between two pinned physics objects without bugs)

  • The only reason I would buy Construct 3 would be if it were a 3D version of Construct 2 and had the possibility to make 3D games as easily as 2D games on construct 2. This would be amazing and worth the 100$ per year rent if not more.

I can buy Construct 2 once and use it for eternity for 2D games so renting Construct 3 would be pointless if I could only make 2D games.

EDIT: I might buy it anyways

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I am looking for the effect that pin has on construct but with it actually working, it is well known that pin and physics don't work together at all and just send objects that come in contact with the pined physics object flying across the layout. I worked with the physics behavior on construct 2 for 4 years and can not replicate the pin behavior on construct 2 with working/non-buggy physics no matter what I do.

  • Is it possible to make a game like Rovercraft, Bad Piggies, Reassembly and other similar games where you have multiple sprites co-operating as a single physics object? And if not, why is this not possible in construct 2 but possible in other game engines?

  • So my lighting system is based on a destination out blend with sprites at a non transparent black layer to create holes to simulate light, with a layer under it to provide color for these lights, this basically includes a color only sprite and a hole sprite.

What I am asking, is how could I make this multi-layered so that we have a floor lighting system working and a top lighting system working. Say there are lights on the floor that we want the player to step over and block like a dance floor, and lights on top that the player cannot block for sprites like a lamppost and such.

Here is an example of how the lighting system is flawed or working.

As you can see the real problem is adding bottom lights, just how can we do so without conflict with the top lighting system?

This is a really big part to my game and would be a great help to have it figured out.

  • I don't seem to understand why this isn't working. I have a few (4 sprites) with 60+ collision points and they all have this problem with missing points. I'm sure this isn't a bug as others would of reported it before if so.

  • That worked thanks so much!

  • I have a problem with my game, as there is a movement button that rotates a object clockwise and one that rotates a object counter-clockwise.

The problem is that when it rotates it glitches somewhat and by that i mean the object overlays another physics object. These pictures are the problem I'm talking about, the first to of the object rotating both ways and the last picture is the object without the act of rotation.

I would just like to know how to fix this or if there is a way to rotate the object with the physics behavior. I'm using the usual "rotate counter clockwise 1 degree" FYI.

  • I have the same problem, how do I fix it?

  • I know that pin and physics dont work too well, but is there a way to make a replacement for pin that works with physics? Is there some way to glue sprites to other sprites, like how you can weld objects together on Garry's Mod?
